there aren't words for it Jo....just don't get bored with being sober....there are times , even now, when you just have the yearning.....thankfully it is just that....

the way the industry's going now, it'll be hard to find stockists!

didn't think this thread would have the power to close down breweries - Cains are going into administration through unpaid taxes and there will be more...would have had such implications!

    anyway...well done!
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007

I don't mind thinking about drinking or not drinking rather, but I can't stand the emptiness. It's like I've had a mate round for tea every night for the last 15 years and suddenly they've upped and left and I'm sat here by myself :('

My trouble is that Im not ready to lose my 'mate' yet. Ive cut down but don't know if I can do without it altogether.

    Well done Jo :T:T:T

Had a full on shift at work yesterday and did not stop for 9 hours. Got home and had a bottle of Grolsh 250ml. That was it and then went to bed. Even busier today at work so probably wont be able to catch up but I feel OK so far.

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning all

Thanks for all your support :)

YM, good luck for today, why not get home and try and have a soft drink instead?

Beth, so long as you're cutting down that's the main thing, eventually you might decide to stop completely, just do whatever you need to do for yourself.

Bis, looks like I've quit in the nick of time, can you imagine how the prices are gonna rocket

    Lurky, thanks :)

Day 9 has commenced, will be in double figures tomorrow :D

  • I am useless :rolleyes2 got home yesterday to find that my hob had somehow got switched on and melted two of the switches and part of the worktop is discoloured (see my new thread) and what did I do - drink a load of bourbon and coke to drown my sorrows  I really HAVE to stop turning to the bottle every time something goes wrong :o OH is having loads of stress at the moment too as his brother is having some sort of breakdown (they work together in the family business) so he just does the same, we just encourage each other! Had to get a takeaway too as we couldn't cook so blown the budget and the diet to boot

Only light at the end of the tunnel is that it is Friday!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hope everyone is ok today

Aww shoppy, what a nightmare! I identify with your problem of drinking to blot out the carp, but the carp is still there whether we are drunk and ignoring it or sober and stressing about it and I think you know this, that's why you feel so bad today. That was basically my life for c.15years so I know how much easier it is to have a drink and forget it rather than find the motivation and effort to not drink.

I hope the damage is superficial and it doesn't cost to much to fix (not seen your other thread yet), take it easy today and stop beating yourself up. I've only learnt how to stop doing this to myself over the past few weeks and trust me, I am now far more relaxed. Cut yourself some slack girl :)

Hope your day improves, you know where we all are :)

jo would just like to add my congrats to the others you have really done so well i can remember when you first started on this thread what an amazing transformation well done
  • Hi all

    Hope you're all doing well.

Well done Jo on over a week of AFD's .... very impressive stuff!!

I've been reading 'beat the booze' - thanks again for that Sparkly - and am already half way through it - its fab .... and is really helping - I've had 2 AFD's already and glad to say no adverse affects - which I'm hoping means I'm not physically addicted!

Not sure how I'm going to handle the weekend though!! I'm hoping to get it down to just having the odd drink at weekends rather than every night .... (although think this weekend might be a bit too soon to be even thinking about a drink - need to be dry for a while longer methinks) ........ am quite proud of myslef so far though, especially as we have a house full of booze from a bbq last week!

    So, how's everyone else doing?
