    Hi Everyone

Really positive vibes off this site today-thanks everyone, it really keeps me focussed.

Jo glad the trapped wind is a little better- people used to laugh at me when I complained about it, but it was agony and the first time it happened I thought I was in labour it was so bad!!!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend

eselt, I remember the first time it happened to me I actually rang NHS direct! Now I'm not normally ill and so when this happened and I was actually doubled up and was frightened to straighten up I thought I had apendicitis!

Hi all, glad everyone's feeling good today.
Shoppy, no, I don't mind you asking, it's the amount I've agreed with the worker at the treatment centre, 1 litre of cider or lager. Some days it's relatively easy, others it's really hard but I've stuck to it now for 4 weeks with AFD's as well so it's a huge improvement on what I was doing before (regularly double, worse sometimes). Also, it's ok in the mornings and although it's not within the 'safe limits' when you've been drinking as long as I have it's a much better position to be in than before. The plan is to get steady at this level and I'm feeling the difference now then reduce more, over a long period, if necessary.

Exactly what happened to a work colleague this week - she also rang NHS direct, same problem, had not had it before. Once we all started talking about it, it's quite common, even the 18-yr-old in the office! Needless to say never-ill-wb not suffered (one of these days, I'm gonna get it all. aren't I!) bit sounds awful.

Am at OH's for wkend as per so diff to get on here, but have good eve / sunday, all.

    mornin all...hope you're all well...

saw a film yesterday, did plenty of exercise and no work today so hurrah.....

there are some situations where how far you've come is almost meaningless...you still have the urge...bit disappointed with Ronnie Wood though! I thought he knew better...don't worry - I've never been in his league!

Hello all, hope you're all well.

AF day for me yesterday which makes it 4 in 7, I really can't remember when I last did that but I'm pretty sure it was years ago!

So, going through a good spell at present and feeling much better for it but know there are difficult times ahead, still just keep trying.

Anyway, a couple of quick questions, I get terrible acid indegestion even when not drinking now, just wondered if anyone knows if it will go away and when? Also, does anyone use any other support mechanism like forums, meetings etc which they find useful?

Anyway, hope you all have a good day, hugs to those who need them and well done to those who're cutting down or abstaining. See you soon I expect.

Hi Still here, but nothing to say really...no news is good news???

Alisong- re:the indigestion- this is really really common for drinkers- there are several things you can try. Peppermint tea, ginger tea, gaviscon, remegels, rennies are all pretty good for a mild attack. If these don't help, Pepcid is pretty good- although you have to take one a day and they are expensive (they do last for 12 hours though). If all else fails, go to your GP- I take 'Zoton' which is lamprazomole (something like that!!!) and they have been brilliant- no trouble ever since I started taking them, and I can now eat properly again and sleep without having to sit up straight-!!! I know a lot of people don't like to take tablets, so you might want to try the gentle stuff first. Please don't resort to my (previous) cure which was a very large port and brandy- that was definately not one of my better ideas. Hope this helps.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend, looking forward to an AF week.

    Hi all.

Thanks for the info eselt, I suspected there might be quite a few of us suffering! Any idea if it goes away if you stop drinking or is this permanent damage?!!
