Not particularly!
I can't seem to reduce at all, I think I'm just gonna have to stop again instead of reduce gradually. At least this time I'll have counselling back up for the next 12 weeks.
Tonight's the night, AFW day no. 1 has just started and please god let it happen. I've just made up a 3 litre bottle of orange squash and put it in the cold fridge ready for when I get in. OH is out tonight at a radiohead gig which is an excellent scenario for day 1 for me, I can go to bed as early as I like and don't have to explain myself to anyone which will make it easier. Problem is, I normally like it when OH goes out cos then I can drink almost openly and drink as much as I like  I must be strong, please send me sober vibes! I'm gonna buy a load of picky stuff for dinner like chicken wings and stuff so I can shove it in the oven and leave it and keep away from the kitchen.
Plus also, and most important, it's my DD2's 3rd birthday today, if I can't do it for myself, I want to do it for her (that sounds a bit back to front, but whatever!). 3 years ago at 8.00am I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, for 7+ months I had craved alcohol every single day and knew that I would be drinking the very moment I could. And I did later on that day.
I'm sat here at the laptop watching my little girl right now playing with her new toys and I've got tears in my eyes, I am so upset with myself for getting myself into this situation. I wish I had more strength. Why don't I want to wake up refreshed(ish ), ready to go, organised, and not depending on that poison that I choose to drink every day.
Gotta go, DD2's trying to get me to help her with her new musical book and I'm still not ready for work :eek:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hi Jo.
Good luck for today. If you are anything like me you may do better giving up completely.
If I just have one I cant seem to stop.
My children are one of the reasons that I wanted to give up drinking even though they are grown up and dont live at home.
I never want them to find out about the night their mother was found asleep in the gutter clutching an empty whisky bottle and then taken home covered in vomit ,by the police. My OH promised never to tell a soul and I hope he never does because I am so ashamed.
Good luck with this JO.Each time you feel the need to drink alcohol think of your tears this morning and remember how you feel . Your children need you SOBER.

Morning all,
I came on here last night but there was no one heremust have just missed you mollypolly, does anyone use any other forums for quitting, I really could do with one for the evenings to keep me on the straight and narrow.
Jo, I really understand where you are coming from,I want to be sober for my daughter I feel I am giving her the wrong impression of alcohol.
I just wish I didn't want to drink, it sounds silly but I really want to quit but then at the back of my mind is the thought that I don't want to go through my life without drinking - doesn't make sense really does it?
Mollypolly, I have also made OH promise not to tell anyone things - like how I couldn't even stand to get in the house one night or when we argued and fought all the way home from a night out just because I was so totally smashed and irrational!
I didn't touch a drop last night so thats two days for me so far, I feel so irritable and edgy today, hardly spoke to poor OH this morning as I just wanted to scream (about nothing really!) I have joined a research/help site called downyourdrink, it is one the doc recommended, they give you lots of advice on the site and also you take part in surveys to provide statistics and information for various studies/reports, I am hoping it will help me - we will see!
Good luck for today everyone0 -
Well done shoppy, you are doing fantastic! Remember to up your fibre cos your digestive system will start feeling the change about now. If you have any 'problems', I highly recommend buying some fibregel over the counter and drinking 2 a day for the next week or so, it's completely natural and will help your insides whilst your quitting
I feel extremely positive today after my outburst this morning!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Oh another thing shoppy, don't forget to update your sig, you need to see it in writing!

Hi Jo glad you are feeling better
What do you mean about the fibre? I haven't heard that?
I am even more fed up than before, just been working out my finances for the month and after paid out everything I have exactly £304.71 to last me for the month and that has to pay for food shopping/going out/unexpected expenses, that said I have paid out an extra £40 for DD for her holidays with her Dad and also managed to pay off an extra £150 on my cahoot loan and if I can do that next month the balance will be nil then I can start making inroads into my ccards!! I am going over to the os boards for some advice on meal planning in a mo!0
