I must admit that I didn't come online last night because I was drinking.:o I had a glass of wine with my dinner and then sat and watched tv with my malibu and lemonade. I agree with Mollypolly in that I find it easier to not drink at all rather than just have a couple.

I have a bottle of chilled dandelion and burdock in the fridge and am going to stick to that tonight because I feel so tired this morning. I was so full of the joys of spring yesterday after 2 days of not drinking and I got so much done around the house, including bathing the dogs! I want to feel like that again tomorrow.

I know exactly what you mean, Shoppy, about wishing that I didn't want to drink and yet not liking the idea of going through life without drinking ever again. Allen Carr's book helps with this but I have to keep re-reading it to remind myself of his sensible view of alcohol.
  • I didn't really relate to allen carr's book at all  I know a lot of people on here have found it really life-changing though:confused: maybe it is just me :o

I have just written down why I want to quit and done a declaration for myself so I can keep reminding myself of my goals I am keeping a copy in my bag at all times and am going to give a copy to OH tonight, may help me to keep on track

I feel extremely positive today after my outburst this morning!

Me too - must be something in the air! :D

I think it must take a very strong person who has been drinking a lot for a while to just cut down to one or two every now and then - quitting completely and sticking to it I'm sure is the only way it will work for me. My GP said as much.

Now if only I could get a few days under my belt again ......

That is what the doc said to me, I think if you have an addictive personality it is the only way - I am aiming for alcohol free for a month to begin with, I have no idea if I will do it but I am taking one day at a time - Day 3 for me today:o

Go to it bhb & Jo! Is DD2 having a party Jo? 20 3-year-olds in the back garden? Happy days......
Have still been lurking & reading most days, still finding my will power has gone completely AWOL. I tottered onto the scales this morning - 6 months since Xmas (urgh, half-way to the next one....sorry) & I have lost....absolutely nothing. A friend of mine has lost 32lbs in that time & she EVEN STOPPED DRINKING! OH has lost 2 stone & guess what? He...STOPPED DRINKING! Both only temporarily but even so. Am forced to the conclusion I am either a) incredibly thick or b) massively in denial to think I am going to lose my 20lbs while carrying on with the sherberts. I have set my alarm 1/2 hour earlier for tomorrow so instead of my 25 minute saunter round with the dog on the level I can do a full hour & get up the big hill behind the village - fab time of year for that & cos dog's been poorly out of the habit, but he's better now so I've got no more excuses (tho, give me an hour or two...). Did it this morning as not at work & it felt great. I am still determined not to stop altogether!! But mollypolly & shoppy, I am also an all or nothing person, it is getting more & more apparent.
    It's a good job I don't post so often - I can't stop! Erm, so once I start.....I sense a theme here.
  • winebox - snap!! I keep trying in vain to lose a stone or two (all gained from alcohol + after effects of) I know if I could just quit it the weight would drop off! all those empty calories, I reckon I overeat (well drink) by around 1000 cals a day:eek:

Good luck with your dog walking sounds like a good plan - I have cats so will need to think of something else? may try doing more gardening/housework

Well Im here with my dandelion and burdock and also a sherbert fountain. Im going to go and watch Coronation Street in a minute (if its been on tonight!) and Im tempted to take a malibu with me. Is there no one here to talk sense into me?:p My OH has gone out to the cash machine to wthdraw some money for daughter's trip. I suspect he may stop off at the "pop shop" to get a couple of beers too. If he does then I'll be answering the call of the Malibu I think.:o
  • Evening All,

Anyone want to share my cushion on this wagon? So far so good tonight, though Mrs BHB has got a bottle of wine on the go so that's not helping me much !

Have just realised tonight how much the drink dulls the ADHD of the DS3. Either that or he's gone completely bonkers tonight. Its his 7th birthday on Friday - perhaps he's just excited about that.... but blimey he has certainly got some energy!

Hope you are doing OK Jo

Beachbeth - Step away from the Malibu!

    Best Wishes
    BHB
