The giving up/cutting down alcohol support thread!

I have loads of possible underlying reasons I go over and over them in my head, I had a counselling session - grief not alcohol - after the death of my father (suicide) 14 years ago and hated it, I only saw the lady once and didn't continue with it, but I am wondering if it may help me now - will the doc be able to refer me do you think?0
-
I'm sure the doc will know where to send you, just cos the counselling didn't work last time doesn't mean it's not for you....you need to find the right person to confide in. A few pages back BHB was talking about his counsellor and he wasn't happy with them either, that doesn't mean the service wouldn't work.
Feel free to PM me if you like, we're in the same boat and I'm as desperate to jump off as much as you!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
It might be worth asking for a liver function blood test as well while you're at it.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0

Thanks Jo, I think that was the problem, she wasn't someone I could relate to really, I tried going to AA once too but didn't feel that was right for me, everyone there seemed religious and I am not in the slightest!0

I always feel on a right downer after AA meetings, as much as I can understand and sympathise with everyone there, I find it hard enough dealing with my own thoughts let alone everyone else. This thread is amazing though in this respect, cos you can read, think then respond in your own time rather than having a dozen people staring at you!
It took me a while to get the blood test done, had the form which sat in my car for over a month, but I did go and got good news.
We are all here for you shoppy, please keep posting, I quite often want to bypass this thread but I won't allow myself to, I am a work in progress and will get there eventually, however long it takes....

Tell you what I envy people who don't like the taste of alcohol - my sister doesn't - she drinks wine with lemonade in to get rid of the taste  I think if that was me I would find it easier not to drink!0
