    Morning folks

Ok - here's another poser (similar to Bismarck's trifle dilemma)

Friday night being curry night, you ring and place your usual order. You wander up to get it at the appropriate time. Now normally, if they are a bit pushed, they offer you a half lager (on them) while you wait. You are fullyl prepared for this and have your polite'no' all ready :D

However this time, for the first time, they just wander over and hand you half a lager without even offering first!!!!

    Do you;

    a) politely refuse, even though they've already poured it
    b) accept it, put it on the table, then leg it as soon as their backs are turned
    c) take few sips out of politeness, then leg it as soon as your takeaway arrives
    d) What the heck!! It's Friday night, neck it!

    :o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

answers on a postcard to the usual address..... answer next time I'm on :D

    Excellent question!!

I like it...and pre-dry I have been in that situation myself!

then I'd have done d) anyway and wondered why only a half as that's barely worth washing a glass for.

now I'd have done a) and say I was driving. FULL STOP. Walk away.

My line at the moment is that I would only drink again if it prevented pain or hardship to my family.

As I can't see that happening, I'm safe. Just one drink risks pain and hardship to my family so I don't do it.

If I keep the rules simple I can't deliberately misunderstand them or make excuses.

    ;)

    Blimey TNG, that's a question!

I would like to think I'd say a) and give Bismarcks fantastic answer but I don't know if I'd be that quick thinking without being prepared. I imagine if it happened to me in my early dry days I'd find it quite upsetting actually, although I obviously wouldn't show it. I wouldn't drink it if I valued my sobriety, which at the moment I'm looking so forward to having.

Anyways, so I'm on line! After not being able to get internet for days, having various phones calls with the international call centres this morning trying to fix it, being told my laptop is busted and I need to take it to an engineer, then taking it and being told and proved to that it was actually fine.....I've brought it home, dismantled the whole lot on the set top box, put it back together and here I am!! So proud of myself :D

Had a really odd night last night re. the beer.

I had actually bought 6 for a fiver as it's cheaper and I had actually had a bit of an afternoon and thought 'eff it, if I drink 4 then I'll be okay with the 3 tomorrow' Just for the record, I had no intention of drinking more than 4.

Got home and OH asked if I could drive him to see his mate cos he needed to pick summat up, I was HIGHLY irritated about this as he didn't want to leave straight away but in a couple of hours  I was very very p!ssed off but said yeah I would as I had no justifiable reason not to. Very jumpy all evening, then at 8.15pm was told that he no longer needed to go! I drank 3 cans, was sat in the armchair watching BB and thought about going to have a 4th but had a really positive thought come over me and thought 'no, I'm not going to'. And I didn't! I watched the rest of BB, then Derren Brown and went to bed so proud of myself (I know it sounds stupid!). There have been times in the past when I've actually drank 3, 4 or 5 cans and as I'm literally going to bed I go to the kitchen and open a can just for one mouthful then tip the rest cos I need just one more mouthful! That's why I'm so proud :D

    Hope you're all well?

ETA: Bit worried about tonight cos OH is going out so it's easier for me to drink  I might be on here a lot!

    xx

I'm with Jo on that one. The guess the answer should be no thanks, and driving is a great excuse if you don't want to 'own up' or make a thing out of it.

I have had a bottle tonight. Just one co-op cheapy lager but its alcohol none the less. Am sticking with just the one.

Hopefully I won't want one tomorrow but we have the heavy drinking brother-in-law and missus up from Jo's area for lunch. You know what these Essex lot are like :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

    (Just Joking...... Really :D)

I might want one after they have gone just to wind down but I hope not.

    Stick with it Jo.

Have to wrap the 2nd eldest's presents up for his birthday now..... difficult buying for a 16 - 17 year old birthday boy :confused:

    Best Wishes

Yep - they are the peeps. Have to say though - he's now under the Doc too, ultimately for the same reasons as it happens.... 2 bottles of wine every night during the week, stacks more at weekends. He actually hasn't admitted the problem yet.

Its a pity cause they are lovely people and trying for a baby, and I'm sure it can't help.
It's surprising how many people are stuck on the stuff that you don't actually realise.

Anyway - better spend a bit of time with the little one's as they are off to bed in a minute.

    Best wishes
    Catch you tomoz
