  • Wow thanks snowy you always have a way of making me feel good :) Thank you very much. Of course, I am now totally tempted to go out and buy one... I presume things like original spag bol and chilli con carne must be awesome as even on the hob they taste better the longer they simmer.... Thank you :):):)

I've got a large family slow cooker and for more than one person, and if funds allow, I would buy the biggest you can,
I always make double the quantity of soup/casseroles etc and freeze half,
if we are having a roast/chicken I buy largest joint I can and cook it then use extra meat for other meals,
my slow cooker can be on for one day but provide 2 or 3 days meals,
also means I can use it if having the family around

Well Bella, don't have that particular model but have a Cookworks one (fairly cheap at the time). But works great. Does some great stews etc. At that price you can't really go wrong. Go for it.

We have had trouble finding recipes for slow cookers, they are not the "IN" thing right now, but found a couple on Amazon for a reasonable price. Will be trying some recipes soon!

Food really does come out good, meat tender etc.

I'd be ever so grateful if someone who has got the Morphy Richards 6.5l could tell me how wide the pot is inside. I'm dithering between buying the 3.5 and the 6.5 and one thing that would sway it towards the bigger one would be if I can get the terrine I use for making pate inside

    many thanks
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

maryb - the dimensions are as follows:

    length - 10 1/2 inches or nearly 27 cm

    width - 7 3/4 inches or 19 1/2 cm

These measurements have been taken at the base of the crock as it tapers slightly, so this is the smallest area. If you are unsure if it will fit in due to the oval shape and you tell me how big your terrine is, I can see if it will fit by making a paper template.

If you have a branch of Superdrug near you then you may be able to pick up a 3.5 litre slow cooker for £12.99. They currently have a sale on, and it may be nationwide. Can't remember brand but it wasn't a well known one. I saw one in our local Superdrug the other day.

any one but it's GOTTA BE BIG;)

don't be fooled by fancy branded (AWT, rosemary conley...) ones, they are made by the same companies as the cheapies.

i,ve just bought the rosemary conley one today 4 ltr. simply because the MR 6.5 was too big and the 3.5 too small ,there was,nt one inbetween! but it looks good , i like the white crock and it has a simple low high and auto setting and a little rack for the bottom. i thought £29.99. was a good price too. am i the only one to have this model? i haven,t used it yet so hope it,s o.k

miacat - my mum has this one, simply because it's the right size for her. She's found it OK, but I haven't asked her in detail about it, just know she's used it and with no problems.
