Buying a slow cooker (which? & why?)
Comments

I bought the cooksworks one from argos when it was on sale for about £9. I didn't want to spend a lot in case I ended up not using it. I've never been accused of being easily pleased and I've no complaints about it. There is only two of us - I'm not sure of the capacity nowhere near 6.5 ltr but I always make double and large portions - it may not suit the OP but if anyone wants a budget priced - not too space consuming one -I'd reccommend it.0

I have the MR 6.5L one (as well as 2 smaller ones) and I use it all the time. It fits a large chicken or a leg of lamb and when I make a veg curry, I fill it
What will cook a lot will cook a little, as they say
Am I right in thinking I read on here earlier that this (MR) beasty has been seen in Robert Dyas for about £25?
Yes I bought the smaller one 3.5l for £19.99 and they had the larger one for 24.99 this week. they have a website as well you can order from but I think there's a delivery charge. still works out quite cheapIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

Don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere else, but when I went to Makro (Preston) at the weekend, they had the MR 6.5L one at £19.99 plus vat0

My old Pifco one was great - you could use the cooking dish on the stove to brown meat beforehand. Then when you put that into the heating part, it was enclosed with a rigid plastic type material - the sort you get on a coolwall toaster - you could lean on it all day and not get burnt.
The stainless steel Prima one I have now gets very hot, even the worktop underneath!0
