Im starting this challenge for August but im not giving myself a target yet as this will be my first attemp.I have written down everything ive spent in july to see where i go wrong and i sure do waste alot which i dont have.
With me being new to all this saving im hoping im going to have enough pin money by xmas to get a breadmaker,a panasonic one of course.Do i also need to buy scales so i can weigh out my flour????,dim question i know but im not sure if you lot just use cups or jugs for measuring your ingredients out.0 -
It very much depends on the recipe book you get with your machine - but we can all help you out with conversions when the time comes and you know what you have. Scales would be a good idea though
Just post into any of the breadmaking threads when you get stuck.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Hi Squiggles - welcome aboard
My breadmaker (not a super dooper panasonic though) came with it's own little plastic measuring cup - I would imagine they all do.0 -
im joining in this month.. was gonna do it pay-day to pay-day but confused myself the last few weeks as to what "month" im in paywise.. (damn 4 weekly pay) so i think i'll start on monday morning - 1st august!
My savings wont be as much as everyone else as i dont have any household stuff with still living at home. But i do pay for my toiletries, packed lunches etc so i'll use any savings from them
Think i'll aim for a measly £10 as its my first time and ive already stocked up on loads lately and cut back quite a bit too so shouldnt need to spend too much this coming month :j0 -
Been doing pretty well with my aPMS target set at £75 for the last couple of months, and I calculate that I've already got approx £35 "in the pipeline" for next. Upping the target for next month really would help cashflow, so I think August will be the month that I finally put a few lots on ebay. Might have to review this, but I'm going to up my aPMS target to £100.0

Hello everyone!
I'm finally feeling brave and I'm going to try the challenge as husband and I had already agreed that we're going to have to be much stricter spending wise from 1st August following his redundancy. The pin money challenge seems a good place to start. I shall go for £20 as I've already been shaving small amounts off our spending since Feb when OH was given his notice.

I doen this a few months back but with my wedding forgot all about it so will start again this month. I'm not going to set myself a target this month cos I'm also going to be trying not using cards and see if it helps me save money so will be atking a set amount from the bank each week instead. So will just see how I get on.Total Debt (27th Nov 08) £16,707.03 Now £5,102.72Debt Free Date [strike]Nov 2012[/strike] August 20110

I feel chuffed, today I have made £2.68 in PMS :j . I used a 50p off voucher in Asda (didn't buy the product, felt naughty for a millisecond) & got Nescafe Cappucino satchets with a money back offer if you don't like it, the require me to send at least 5 satchets back with receipt for the offer, but as I got 4 extra free I would say I'm a winnerEvery day above ground is a good day.0

I'll give it a try!
Have previously tried this with a specific aim in mind - saving money that would have been spent on lottery tickets towards a £100 premium bond (where even if you don't win, at least you haven't lost your money!) So am going to re-start that from Mon, with a target of £18.LBM Dec 2013, Total Debt £31,992.06 Debt Free Date June 20220 -
I've just been playing with our snowball spreadsheet in a "if I can make x from the pms, what will it do to the figures ..." kind of way. If I manage £35 next month and then £50 every subsequent month ... and I'm going to include EVERY discount I get, whether that's the parking ticket refunded at ASDA to the difference between online and shop prices ... it brings the debt free date to April from August
That's also working on the current budget, not paying every spare penny out on to the cards, nor accounting for the extra £100 a month I'm going to get tutoring this year ... wow. I wish I done all this sooner ... :rolleyes:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 002 :rotfl:0
