Ok yes there are some smaller ones but they are not the norm are they? and they are not the ones which people have a problem with, people dont like normal 4x4s you never asked in your first question why dont people like small SUV's like the Jimneys & Terrios did you?

If you had I would not have answered your question in the same way, if you want to get real finicky and try and play on what a 4x4 is then you could say what about a 4x4 Subaru Impreza they are normal size car, Thing is you must have knowen they question you were asking surely. When somebody says why do people not like 4x4s you would assume they mean a Land Rover or Porsche Cayanne or something of that type of vehicle not a mini SUV or 4x4 car.

This is so pointless I tell ya what as you dont listen to why people dont like 4x4's why did you even ask?

I will let you make up all the excuses you like to defend yourself and leave you to it. You asked why people dont like 4x4's I answered your question, I am done here.

It looks like you are just attempting to justify your purchase of a 4x4 to us all.

I think this all comes down to freedom of choice if yiou wish to spend your hard earned money on a 4x4 then that is your choice as long as your willing to pay the extra cost of owning one you are doing nothing wrong, i would not wish to be run over by one but there again i would not relish being run over by a bus either and we dont call for them to be banned, to say that such a big car is not practical is i think not valid you can make the same claim about only one person in a 4 seater car as i think theres not much differance in the amount of road they take up, and another thing how would these people who tell you not to buy a 4x4 react to people telling them how to spend their money not very well i suspect

Problem with that is your saying you carnt make anything illigal if they spend there own money on it?

Even if it brings danger to other people?

What about these new smoking laws then if I bought the fags I should be able to use them where I like cos I paid for them. (I dont smoke anymore BTW)

So then why are guns illigal? If I want to spend my money on a gun I should be able to.

Why are drugs illigal if i want to spend my money on drugs I should be able to this works with many many other things also.

It comes down to the safty of others just cos you paid for it dont mean it should be legal.

As for the bus comment yeah of course you would not want to get hit by a bus difference is they are serving a perpouse they carry way more passangers so there are less cars and they are involved in less accidents per person traveling, they also tend to be going much slower ect ect.

All the excuses made are just people trying to justify why its ok to use a 4x4 and unless you have a use for it there is no reason for it other than it makes them feel safe, big and important.

Not at all, why should I, it was my money, my choice.

No I honestly am curious as to why so many people seem to be against people who buy & drive them?

As for the size issue, I'm not splitting hairs honestly.

In my VERY FIRST POST I said my DH's estate car was a tiny bit wider & mine a good bit shorter his.

The very mini ones are the size of small cars, most SUVs on the roads are the compact type anyway & they are no bigger than a med to large car.

Its new, so is pretty fuel efficiant & not chucking out a load of fumes like an old car.

The engine might be quite efficient but the extra weight and bulk of the vehicle are a fundamental barrier to it ever being truly efficient. Don't assume that old cars are all wrecks.
