Well, logically you should transfer some of your Amex balance to the A&L card since the interest rate is lower. As the Amex rate is life-of-balance but the A&L is a short term fix, only transfer to A&L what you're sure you can repay before the fix ends (as you did before IIRC).

They've obviously noticed you paid the balance off and decided to do something to get your business back.

Thanks you guys, but didn't you read that I have CLOSED / TERMINATED my Alliance & Leicester VISA card account ? I had a letter confirming it was shut.

My gripe is how come they are offering me this, er offer, when my account is TERMINATED ?

    :-/

Jeez ! Why is nothing simple ? >:(

I phoned up and terminated my CAPITAL ONE Premier Visa account on Easter Monday (12th April) and was told the credit would be paid into my bank account and I would get a letter confirming the account was closed.

Got a statement today showing I still am 27p in credit and still obviously have £2,800 to spend >:(

The guy I phoned on Easter Monday had NOT terminated my account.

The lady today apologised and said she would see to it and I would get a letter confirming my account was now terminated.

    Better bloody do >:(

The 15th of the month has come and gone, Rochdale Guy, where are you now with your credit cards?

Received a 27p cheque from Capital One but NO letter confirming my account is now closed and terminated.

Do I really have to phone them up for a 3rd time to demand action ?

As for outstanding balances, I have just one :

    Amex Blue £1,300 (approx) @ 4.9% until cleared @ £41 month D/D.

Just wish I could do something with my zero balanced £11,000 limit MBNA card :(

Sent Capital One a secure "message" via my online account asking why my account wasn't terminated and got no reply. Got a letter today saying "as my account was now closed, they can't reply to my secure message :-/ ".... but it is closed and they noticed I am 29 pence in credit and will send me a cheque soon.... thankyou for my custom etc"

    ???

They have already sent me a cheque, for 27p NOT 29p ???

    Sheesh :-[ :-X :-/ >:(

I am new to Credit cards and have so far acquired 3 different cards: a Nationwide Visa, a Capital One Mastercard and a Barclaycard Visa also. I have reached the credit limit on all 3 of these cards - £1500, £400 and £1150 respectively.

I have never missed a single payment with any of these cards and I am currently paying them off either by minimum payment each month or a little more when I can afford it. I have also never missed any payments with any other bills in my life.

I would like to get another credit card and start transferring some of these balances over but I have been turned down by almost every lender I can think of due to a poor credit rating which I can't understand.

Does anyone have any idea of any company which would supply me with another credit card? I am really stumped on this one. ???

    Thank you,

    Shauneyd
