Congratulations Rochdale.
I am inspired not by the fact that you have completed the task, but more so in the way you went about it. From making the initial plea for help in what is generally considered to be a very personal and often 'off bounds' area, through to your dedication and perseverance in reaching your goal.
That takes a special type of person, and I truly hope that now you have cleared your debt, that you manage to continue to be debt free.
It is gratifying to see someone gaining benefit from this site/forum, when often I read only complaints from posters because some freebie or special offer has been taken by other members of the site.
Your chronicles remind us of the original intent of the site (or certainly as I perceive it to be) in saving money and reducing debt.
Once again, congratulations!

That's me, being dazzled by your brilliance and sheer dogged persistence!! Really, I've read all seven pages of this thread and it's nothing short of inspirational, I'm thinking of printing it off and papering a wall of my house with it to keep me on my toes! Well done and you thoroughly deserve that bottle of champagne - now, off to arrange my Barclaycard transfer!0 -
What a wonderful story.
Well done Rochdale_Guy.0 -
Well done!!!!
What a great story of discipline & patience, top marks
RG.
I.ve only been on this site a few months but I notice just lately that a lot of people seem to have lost touch with the reason this site came into being. I am puzzled why so many people want to pass judgement on others instead of just offering advice or help.
So far this year I have moved my mortgage (end of a fixed deal and no decent offer from the lender) to a fixed rate Offset deal that will save me loads over 10 years, opened 3 new bank accounts (being paid £75 + free travel insurance for the priviledge), and got a Barclaycard 0% for 13 months deal.
But most of all I have had FUN.
Lets all remember why Martin started this site.Waddle you do eh?0 -
Well done Rochdale Guy. Really pleased for you. Enjoy Martin's champers, but enjoy being debt free more. Perhaps you could be on hand to offer others hope in the future?0
