Ebico prices to increase on 1 August

  • Price increase due tomorrow, 1/9, so may be an idea to take some meter readings now

    a) Just for your own records, and comparison with the readings used on your next bill, which will be split pre- and post- 1/9 by the supplier.

    b) For actual submission online, for use on your next bill instead of an 'arbitrary' split (see above).

They have guaranteed the new rates to existing customers andfor at least 12 months and also to anyone that signs up before 1 August.
    (that was 2005)

They extended this to September in the end. I signed up in July last year so I should have no rises until at least July this year. I just had my gas bill and I see that the prices for gas have increased from 1.63p per KWh to 1.96p per KWh!!

I've mailed them to complain about this

Anyone else in the same boat should check their bills carefully. And maybe complain too. Sneaky !!!!!!s!¬

    Anybody else noticed an increase?
  • I can't believe you bumped up such an old thread, I read the whole thing thinking it was this year's!

I am in the process of switching to them and I was told gas prices are currently £1.94 per KWh, which is still very competitive in my area.

    Phew!!! got me worried there.
I am also in the process of changing to Ebico their pricing structure seems very fair. Also Ebico are part of Southern Electric, and once you sign up with them you may be able to apply for up to 20% discount on fuel prices under their energy plus care scheme, if you are in receipt of benefits such as DLA.
I believe pensioners on low incomes can also apply if they meet certain criteria. You have to spend 20% of your annual income on fuel

Ebico are NOT a part of Southern Electric but are a Christian Charity Organisation who believe in fair prices for all in particular the less well off and have a contract with Southern Electric to bulk buy energy at a low price which they then pass on to their customers.

Southern Electric will however let Ebico customers use their facilities such as online billing and monthly Direct Debit which gives a 6% saving on the total bill. I do not know if there are any extra savings for dual fuel as I only get Gas off them as my Electric use actually works out cheaper through BG untill 2007 .

Do you pay by DD? Ebico customers do NOT get a discount for paying by DD, but Southern's computers cannot recognise this, so they bump up the unit price so that by the time the discount is added, it works out the same.

There is no discount for DD. See my reply to MiserlyMartin above for explanation.

Hi guys, sorry if I confused anybody by posting in an old thread, it was just there was relevance in it with the rate rise guarantee.

I have an email back from customer services. They are explaining that the tariff that was guaranteed in Sept was 1.94p per KWh, which will show on the bill as 1.96 before the DD discount as Nicholas just explained.

However this does still not explain why my first two bills covering the period September 05 - February 06 were charged at 1.63p/KWh and now my latest bill has rocketed to 1.96p per KW/h.

I would like to see it in writing what their tariffs after September were fixed at. There is of course the thought that maybe they have been undercharging me since Sept, if they really were supposed to be fixed at 1.96p then.

    Can anybody confirm please?
