Changing T-Mobile contract after 6 months

OK, Just called up 150 for T-Mobile services.
Asked them to downgrade my price plan from Flext35 to the lowest - Flext20 and she did it within seconds no questions asked (apart from the security ones!)
Also got full itemised billing (an extra £1.50) so that I can charge in absolutely every single penny to my employer and not let my job take up my free minutes!
Yay! Just halved my mobile bill (in theory!)LTSB CC: £7,027.05 :eek:Debt (at peak) on 19/07/08: £9,127.05

I've told them to cancel my contract on the basis that they changed the t&c's to my detriment and failed to inform me, because of this i can cancel immediately.0

Based on the 11 months thing? I'm guessing you've been looking to get out of your contract and this isn't just a knee-jerk reaction?LTSB CC: £7,027.05 :eek:Debt (at peak) on 19/07/08: £9,127.05

I've failed to get my cashback and want to reduce my out-goings. By them not telling me about the change and admitting to not telling me, and or not acting on their own information given on the back of the bill, it gives me a get out!!0

Actually, if you mention to them that it states on the back of the bill 6 months their policy is that they will change it for you.
The price plan change policy is not actually part of the T&Cs, it is simply T-Mobile's current policy. When you sign up for your contract you agree to 12/18/24 months commitment with T-Mobile, on the price plan you choose at the time. T-Mobile may allow you to change to a higher/lower price plan during the contract, but there is nothing in the T&Cs which states that they must do so.I accept no liability if you chose to rely on my advice.0 -
Yeah when I called today there was absolutely zero resistance to my request, she didn't even ask why I wanted to do it or whether it suited my calling trends (which it really doesn't).
Quick and simple really, although wondering what ugly monster is waiting around the corner now!LTSB CC: £7,027.05 :eek:Debt (at peak) on 19/07/08: £9,127.05

Why did they refuse when i called to reduce to a lower tariff? If they had said yes at that point i would have accepted, but they didn't. So if the 11 month 'policy' is at T-mobiles whim why on earth haven't they mentioned this fact in the emails they have been sending me? I would have thought that they need to either provide proof that the policy exists, and that they told their customers of it in the first place and also the change from 6 to 11 months.0

Hey Boatman, how far into your contract are you? As I say, I havent found any evidence online or on my bill to suggest 11 months before reducing my tarrif, but it does say 6 and I reach the 6 month mark at the end of my next bill peroidLTSB CC: £7,027.05 :eek:Debt (at peak) on 19/07/08: £9,127.05

I'm pursuing something similar with Orange. I'm more than half way into my 18 month contract (so I guess it's the same premise as a 12 month contract?). Anyway, does anyone know of a sample letter on the 'net I could send in? Their CS on the phone won't listen to me.
Thanks"The only man who makes money from a gold rush is the one selling the shovels..."0 -
Doesn't Orange state in their t&c's about when you can change tariff, 6 or 9 months depending on which contract length your on.
Paranoid124, I'm 8 months into my T-mobile contract. I was told by customer relations/retentions that the policy changed from 6 to 11 months in August?! Some people are saying May, looks like its whatever suits them!
I just feel the networks are getting greedy, they have had a good run with all the inflated line rental they have been getting, time for them to wake up and realise that the only reason people are paying unrealistic line rental charges is because of the cashback and commissions.0
