Changing T-Mobile contract after 6 months

I'm currently on a T-Mobile contract thats has just passed the 6 month mark. I've actually been with T-Mobile for 2 years now as I took up an upgrade last year having completed my 18 month contract.
However, I now feel I'm on too high a contract cost and wouldn't mind looking to downgrade to a lower rate, does anyone know if this is possible? I'm not terribly good at working out these details on how when and why you can end contracts etc. I'm quite happy with the service and the handset I have, its just the £35 a month I'm forking out for texts and calls I don't really use each and every month!
Would appreciate any help/experiences.
Thanks!

I'm sure the last time I upgraded my phone with Tmobile I did so before the current contract expired (not six months early though). I had been with them for 2 years at the time. If you give them a call and explain that having had time to use the current tarif you don't think it is for you and ask them for other options, I'm sure they'll try to help. You may not get the cheapest deal going as they have to somehow get the money back for the "free upgrade" they have given you.
Sorry can't be of any more help.0 -
The moral of this story is that you should only enter into a contractual obligation for something you know you can stomach. I'd never consider signing up to a contract where I owe >£20 a month because it's a lot of money... whenever I renew, I try to do so onto the lowest possible monthly obligation - I can always step upwards if I need a fancier service but at least I am not tied into keeping that level for the contractual period. The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

Hi

Hi

Thanks, I think I should clarify a few points:
* I've been with T-Mobile for exactly 24 months
* 6 months ago I renewed my contract and maintained the same tarriff I previously had
* I paid for an upgrade to a new phone (i.e. after 18 months they weren't doing me any favours!)
Going to give them a call as its not that I can't afford it (if anything my earnings have increased over the last 2 years), I've just come to realise that the majority of my contracted minutes are spent on business calls rather than personal and therefore I can reclaim them - but to do that I'd rather reduce my tarriff now and charge in the extra cost to my employer.LTSB CC: £7,027.05 :eek:Debt (at peak) on 19/07/08: £9,127.05

Hi
I work for T-Mobile, you have to wait 11 months before reducing the cost of your tariff
It states on the back of my bill:
Q: Can i change my price plan?
A: .......You can also move to a lower priced plan after your first 6 months.
I notice that the policy changed in May last year from 6 months to 11 months, but they haven't got a leg to stand on given that its written on my February bill saying 6 months!!0 -
I agree Boatman, but they say that they are using re-cycled paper that they have for a long time, and the terms on the bills are incorrect, but updated on their website.
Nice to know that they are interested in the planet...
I would have thought they would have re-cycled the out of date paper to change the wording...0 -

Thats a pathetic excuse...if the T&C's on the bill aren't correct, how are we meant to believe the total they are supposedly charging us? What if that's a recycling error whereby I've got someone else's bill?
(Not honestly looking for an answer to the above, but I could easily argue out the case over the phone to get the 6 months!)LTSB CC: £7,027.05 :eek:Debt (at peak) on 19/07/08: £9,127.05

Could someone please direct me to the t&c's on the T-mobile website where it states that you can only change after 11 months, cos i can't find it?
The only place i can find it is in the FAQ's.
I cannot imagine for one moment that they would have a years supply of bills lying around with old information on it, imagine how much paper that would be!!! If you took this to court I would imagine the court would give them a reasonable time for them to use up the supply of paper, but they would expect a big notice on the front where they print your bill stating that the information on the back is wrong, I don't see that on any of my bills!!!0 -

I had a trawl through the website last night and it definitely says you can upgrade your tarriff any time you want, and downgrade after 6 months (no mention whatsoever of the 11 months).
Also checked my bills and cant see any mention of either - just says to change your tarriff call 150 - looking to do that today so will let you know how I get on!LTSB CC: £7,027.05 :eek:Debt (at peak) on 19/07/08: £9,127.05
