Hello there. I always see these deals from Tiny for half price computers and the it says in the small print only 'first 100 computers only'. As they have quite a few stores and a web-site these get snapped up quickly (if they actually do the deal).

Do you know what day and time the new deals start so I can order one as soon as they are available.

Also, any suggestions for other web-sites to check out??

  • Personally I wouldn't touch this company with a 10 feet long disinfected bargepole!
Possibly it's improved but their customer services and after sales used to be appalling.
    Sorry.

    Sorry.

Ditto that. They actually went bust a few years ago leaving thousands of people out of pocket and/or lumbered with useless warranties but thanks to the weak consumer protection laws in the UK, Time Computers were permitted to purchase the carcasse and re-launch them under an ever-so-slightly different name.

Their market is the computer non-savvy (read idiot) which is why they advertise predominantly in newspapers like the Sun.

I purchased a Tiny PC in January. I had read several posts similar to this, plus the Which? guide, and felt that a great many people who ranted about Tiny had probably never purchased from them.

No doubt there are people who have had bad experiences of this company, and the previous 'owner', but even the unbiased Which? report did suggest that many people who purchased from them were new to PC buying / using, and in that respect they would more likely feel the need to utilise customer services, for even the simplest of 'problems' - Which? seemed to suggest that this was one of the reasons why Tiny had more complaints from new buyers than it would otherwise have received.

Having said that, they were also critical of the service given by Tiny, saying it was below average.

I took all of this onboard when searching for the best spec PC my money could buy. At that time, Tiny offered far more than I could purchase elsewhere, and I searched high and low - on the net, on the high street, local small shops, magazines etc etc.

I think it's important for anyone who IS pleased with their Tiny to let others know, so that they can reach a reasoned, balanced view about them. I have only had reason to contact Customer Services once since purchasing, and that was because one item of software had not arrived.

I got a good, quick response, and the software arrived promptly afterwards.

Just another view for anyone who is considering them.....

they tend to use the cheapest components, slightly out of date and the cheapest ones use "on board" graphics and audio so it eats up your ram and stops you playing any decent games..

Personally I would stay well away from them.. like Browntoa says, the components used tend to be rubbish and are often bought for cheap from manufacturers that have since gone bust.. so chances of getting an updated driver/support at a later date is slim to FA :)

Buying cheap laptops is also risky as fixing them when they inevitebly break down could cost a fortune and you may have problems finding the right components to replace them. Also, people tend to get carried away when buying laptops and forget to look at things like the fans/cooling, screen type, battery etc..

If you're after a new computer then its as cheap/safe to build your own or try sites like Dell who often have special offers (and is much better) :)

On the other hand, I have a 1300MHz TIME computer (same company) which I bought in March 2001 for about £1,400 with all the gubbins.

    Never had any problems.

Well, only one in that the DVD ROM won't play "home made" DVD's (doesn't recognise them as DVD's**) but shop bought pre-recorded DVD's work fine. The combined CD rewriter drive (which is also the DVD drive) is fine. Even has a 3.5" floppy (oo-er missus).

** Presumably because March 2001 pre-dates recordable DVD's by some margin.

Computer runs sweet as a nut, in no hurry to replace it. Probably worth buttons though now, under £100 probably.

They didn't go bust, they just thought, "ooh, how do we get these annoying warranties off our hands? I know, let's file for bankruptcy."

Now they trade as Tiny.com, which according to my local trading standards, is a "totally separate company", even though their website says they have over 20 years experience - great for a "new" company

But don't worry, we live in a democracy; a just, uncorrupt democracy, where politicians listen to the general population all the time. :rotfl:
