Slightly Concerned

Am getting an error message 'Spyware failed to delete Pigeon AXLM' continuously. Anyone know what this is?
The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best

Error message from what? Which program?

  • sounds like your infected with some malware that cant be reomved because its process is running. your best to start the machine in safe mode. hit f8 when booting. download spybot or something and run a scan while in safe mode. you would need to install spybot when in normal mode and update first though.
  • I am also experiencing this - raises the question - has infection come about because of subscription to moneysavingexpert?

  • Bizarre my Virgin PC Guard is coming with detected spyware in the registry Pigeon AXML which it says it cannot delete, what's more the only google reference is this thread!

This started for me today and I had not been on this site so cannot be related to moneysaving.
If it takes a man a week to walk to walk a fortnight how long does it take a fly with tackity boots on to walk through a barrel of treacle?

It seems to be a recently added malware to detection updates. Just go through the bog standard removal procedures in the malware removal sticky on the techie board.

  • I've looked at the "techie stuff" forum, it's all Greek to someone like me! Has anyone got a cure that us "normal" folk can understand? I'm getting the same dire warnings from PC Guard too.
Why can't geeks talk in normal language anyway?! They seem to think that the rest of the human race should be able to grasp their technobabble! Make clear & simple so that us normals can understand what you're saying!

The malware removal guide is here. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=133269

It's a simple as you can make it step by step guide. Complete pc novices seem to cope with the guide perfectly well.

  • I downloaded & ran Spybot S&D as suggested & that didn't even find Pigeon AXLM! So much for that theory!
Anyway, the b****r is still in my registry & everyone I've spoken to tells me not to touch that!
What next? Do I bite the bullet & reformat/reinstall XP?
Oh, by the way, The only websites I've visited in the past 48hrs have all been to do with research into boys & toys, mostly government sites , all part of my degree coursework! Makes you wonder how the pesky little b****r got onto my computer in the first place....
