Hmmm, not sure as I got reduced listing fees, so I suppose I got the new FVF too.
Not heard of gumtree, but will check it out, thanks :beer:0 -
Just relisting some items on my business account. The item was originally on a normal buy it now option so I thought I would alter its listing type to see what the difference was if I put it in my store inventory. Not impressed.
The item is £3.50 BIN x qty 5
on Standard BIN = £0.50 listing fee + £0.15 Gallery Fee with FVF of £0.26 per item so add that up it comes to a total of £1.95 if all 5 sell
On Store inventory BIN = £0.07 listing fee + £0.07 Gallery Fee with FVF of £0.35 per item so add that up it comes to £1.89
Not worth selling as a shop item as it will get fewer hits from buyers as it wont show in open searches unless someone specifically looks in shops.
Not offering anyone a good deal at all - there is only one winner at the end of the day and thats eBay.
My monthly listing fees used to be between £400 and £530 a month, but I sussed a way to quarter them charges and I wish I knew when I first started on ebay it would have been much more use in my pocket than theirs!0 -
Unfortunately the competition is not quite as good here as it is in the U.S. Hopefully there will be enough people jumping ship to competitors this week over there to start tipping the scales.
Over here though, I think it's up to the sellers to gradually move away from feebay. Leave your cynicism that nothing will change out of it. Keep running your greedbay listings but discretely inform buyers of your cheaper listings over on eBid or Tazbar. A note "do you want to buy the same item cheaper? email me!" on the listing would suffice. Nothing against the rules though.
People forget that eBay wasn't built in a day, and it's going to take time for the competitors to catch up. Just wait until January 09 and all those unwanted presents going on feebay. Let's see how people who are normally buyers like the new selling rules.
I think most small sellers will eventually catch on and adopt this MO...0 -

Gumtree was bought up by eBay in 2005. Make the most of the no-fees while you can ... you can be sure that as soon as there's enough users there, the fees will come in!!For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0
