anything else you can do with PB? other than sarnies and on toast?

    Chicken Satay?
    For the satay chicken:
    454g diced chicken breast
    2 tbsp dark soy sauce
    1 tbsp sweetener
    1 garlic clove, crushed
    1 tsp ground cumin
    Fry Light
    Satay/kebab skewers

    For the sauce:
3 tbsp reduced fat peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
    120ml water
    ½ garlic clove, crushed
    1 tbsp sweetener
    1 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp very low fat fromage frais

    1. Place the diced chicken into a dish or bowl. Mix all the marinade ingredients together and pour over the chicken. Cover and marinade in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
    2. Preheat the oven to 180ºC/350ºF/Gas 4. Drain the chicken, then skewer the chunks onto the kebab sticks (usually 3-4 pieces per stick)
    3. Place on a baking tray, spray with Fry Light and cook for 15-20 minutes until chicken is cooked.
    4. Whilst the chicken is cooking, make the sauce by mixing the peanut butter, water and garlic together in a pan over a low heat. Heat until the sauce begins to thicken slightly, but don't worry if it seems runny as it will thicken as it cools.
    5. Remove from the heat, allow to cool slightly and then add the remaining sauce ingredients. Beat until smooth and serve together with the satay, hot or cold

    I found it awful, 0/5.

persuaded the Oh to try the Choclate Digestives for her Bannoffee pie base

Unfortunately there wasn't enough chocolate on them and the base fell to bits

I'm now in the dog house :-(

Beef Mince - Doesn't need to be much or exspensive
    Onion X1
Pasta - As much as you like (the more the thinner)
    Tinned Chopped Tomatoes X1 Can
    Baked Beans X1 Can
    Season of your own taste.

Fry the beef mince with the onion until the meat is brown (we don't want food poisoning now do we?)

Semi cook the pasta so it isn't hard but isn't too soft, drain and add the remaining ingredients.

Leave to cook until the pasta is soft and it is to your personal taste.

I still do this now, you can re-heat it the next day for lunch and it still tastes good.

A thread after my own heart!!

I am new to this forum btw...:hello:

We use alot of Value foods from Tesco. In fact, all the tins in my cupboard have those blue stripes on!

I use both Plain and SRF Value flour for my baking too, no difference that I an tell with the branded stuff.

    Will be following with interest.:D

My kids had a nickname for me, 'mummy with the outside stripes'
...due to the amount of TV food. It was also good for learning to read for kids before they started putting pictures on the tins.
hubby bought Heinz beans at the weekend and I thought they were awful, after years of the value ones :)

    Great thread. :D

It's amazing how many TV products I buy, after I've thought about it...

    lasagne sheets
instant noodles (just use the noodles for soup, not the actual sachets)
    peppers
    bananas
    chocolate spread
    orange juice
    apple juice
    tinned red beans
    tinned chopped tomatoes

    All very good IMHO. :)
