I know - it's just the ruching on the front looks so.....flat! It doesn't make me jump for joy, probably just spoilt myself trying on the original. I hpe it does look okay tomorrow, but so far I'm in the middle of dashing off an email asking her if she actually bothered to look at the original - the skirt looked shapeless, and doesn't give me the sillouhette the original did.
Trying not to dwell on it, as I'll only cry. It may look better tomorrow. If not, I've got no time or cash left to find something else. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Will you be wearing a hoop with it?
Sometimes we build something up in our minds and are doomed to be disapointed by it... Sleep on it, try it on with your friend and try to keep an open mind until then. She is bound to of sewn it on a model so the skirt probably has shape once worn... If it doesn't... Then fire off the email and see what she's going to do to rectify the situation!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... It's not supposed to have a skirt under it, it's supposed to be trumpet style - it looks horrible and shapeless, It flares from the side of my hips making me look 3 metres wide!!!
There's only 2 weeks to the wedding, I haven't got time to get anything done with this one!!!This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Okay, crisis over - once I calmed down a bit, OH asked to see it, to make sure I didn't get all homicidal.
Once I had it on, and took a proper look I've worked out it's not the dress - it's me!!! I've lost weight and thus it hangs off me in certain areas. So massive apologies to CJ who had some very murderous thoughts sent her way lol. The embroidery is lovely, and the ruching on the front can be sorted by taking out the invisible thrad holding it down. I'm taking it tomorrow to be rejigged around the tummy and norks, needs taking in a few inches.
So one happy bride here, and if you'd like a UK based seamstress, give CJ Ashurst a try (CJ's Bridal)This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Oh Oberon... I know exactly how you felt when it just didn't look right (see my previous posts on my poor dress from asapbay).
My ruched side bits were also ironed flat, but mine had been sewn down as well so I couldn't change that - amongst a list of other wrong bits.
It's good you have decided to get it altered to fit you, hope it looks just as you imagined afterwards!0 -
Just looking for someone who can alter it with 2 weeks to go! My ruching is sewn down, but with invisible thread which I can unpick. Needs a few inches at the top taken off, or worst case senario, a lot of costume tape! The waist needs nipping in by about an inch, possibly 2, and the skirt still flares a little early, but that's no biggy. Course, some decent hoiking underwear could change things dramatically, so on the hunt for some structured underwear. The original had boning in I think, hence the sillouhette, and this one is more fluid.
So hopefully it can be sorted. If not, I've got 2 weeks to stuff myself with creamcakes lolThis year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Try Spencers in Victoria Street or I think there's also a shop in Sea View Street in Cleethorpes that might be able to help.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Hi guys, what a great thread!
I'm planning on getting married inAughust 2009
I've already been looking at loads of dresses and OMG some of them are absokutely stunning!
I looked in one bridal shop at the weekend and nearly fainted at the prices, but it looks like i can pick up my dress and the bridesmaid dresses all for the same price as just a wedding dress in a shop! :j
I just have a question, I'm going to go to some bridal shops to try on dresses to get a feel of different styles etc, would it be cheeky to ask them to measure me and have a copy of the measurements?
I wont be doing this until after the new year as I'm planning on dropping a couple of dress sizes, but I like to plan ahead! lol0
