Hi paddingtondoo,
Your dress looks fantastic - I'm really chuffed that you've posted as I'm awaiting my order from Landy  Haven't been able to sleep since honeypop's trouble, worrying that mine might be dodgy too - but as I was willing to risk the money, I should have realised that there might be a bit of trouble, if my dress looks half as good as yours I'll be tickled pink:j
Am still keeping my fingers crossed.
BTW do you mind if I ask if the dress was boned? I've got big boobs and am worrying about having to find a strapless bra:p

Boning isn't particularly boney if you get what I mean k8te had extra boning put in hers but not sure how much it cost her. I found mine more comfortable to sit in than the ones in the shops as it doesn't poke in.
I found a cheapy strapless bra with a clear back strap on ebay and it does the job as you can see from the second picture of the front.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Honeypop, my dress was from landy and was copied from the Alfred angelo 1136 in Ivory and I'm pretty sure that all the beading is sewn onto the dress and not on any netting (the dress is being altered at the mo so can't check but am sure I would have noticed), I wonder if all the dresses do not come from the same workshop, my dress also did not come with the beading down the back like the original. As for the alterations, she does state that the dress will probably need altering when you get it, if you read all the ebay listing and so on, she states it in the listing even though it is made to measure, I got measured very carefully but am still having to have my dress taken up.
If you could get something sorted out with landy maybe you could get someone to take the netting off and have the chrystals and beads sewn back on, not having see the dress in person it's hard to know if that would look ok. Hope you have some luck with Landy.
Thanks kate and krystal for the nice comments, thought I would have been long forgotten, so glad you wedding went well kate, you looked gorgeous in your dress.
Can I just ask everyone what undies they are wearing, I have a big baby belly and need some support but don't know what to go for and what will be best under the dress bearing in mind going to the loo is going to be a nightmare in the dress anyway, maybe i should have started a new thread for this discussion! oopps x0 -
It took me ages to find underwear, first of all i was going to have high waisted suck you in kind of knickers, then it dawned on me, i wouldnt be able to go to the loo! Then i got a strapless bra and tried a waist nipper thingy, which was so uncomfortable, then finally whilst in Debenhams one day, they had wrongly half priced a gorgeous basque i had seen before, and that was it, brought the matching knickers and i felt quite sexy compared to all the scaffolding i was going to be wearing originally! Going to the loo was very easy, did a trail run before the big day just to make sure though
I have quite a baby jelly stomach too, really need to start going down the gym, my youngest is now 8!!! But didnt want to loose weight as then my dress wouldnt of fitted on the day, and loads more for alterations (good excuse) I also found that with my style dress, and with the underskirt on it sort of skimmed past my belly as it went our from the hips, and went i sat down i had this amazing waist when in my dress

Heard back from Vivian, the lady dealing with my order at asapbay. She says that the order she wrote for the factory had all the right info on, then they made it and shipped it out without her seeing it as they are in a different section, and after seeing my pics she is also really disappointed with the dress and completely understands if I was upset. She said there should have been no embroidery, just beading and rhinestones exactly like the pics I sent, and everything else should have been as I asked too. The petticoat was an error, they sent the wrong one but will send me the right one. She says that if I have enough time and will allow them to rectify their errors, then she will have the factory make me a new dress and this time she will check it over herself before it gets sent.
I assume this will be free of charge, but don't know how long it will take. I guess I do have 4 months to get it sorted though, just going to have to delay everything else that was dependent on the dress (buying the veil, jewellery, hair trial etc). Was going to go on a mad hunt through the sample sales that are on in the local bridal shops this weekend to find something I remotely liked, but don't know whether to just wait and see what the next dress arrives like. Feel a lot better about it now, knowing it wasn't just me being disappointed with it, I was starting to think it was just me and I was over-reacting lol.
Edit to add: Littlel, it's good to know your beading was sewn straight onto the dress, I will ask that this be done this time. Do you have any pics of yours?0 -
Honeypop i glad you have had a positive reply from them, would they be able to make the dress on a quicker timescale? If so i would let them try and rectify their mistakes, and if it still wasnt right then go on a mad rush round the bridal shops, and try to get one of their rail dress's or even something from a high street shops, they should be selling of their own stock soon to get ready for the winter ranges.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do x x0 -
well that sounds promising
i would ask them to do it as a rush order, maybe send you pictures of it all before they ship to you, and also get confirmation from them you won't have to pay any more money over to them. Is encouraging that they agree with you; and they want to sort it out.Heard back from Vivian, the lady dealing with my order at asapbay. Honeypop - that's got to be a relief. And confirms that you were right not to be satisfied with what they sent.
Let's hope they can get the new order through in time!0 -
I have agreed to a re-make of the dress. I asked for confirmation on how long it will take and that I don't have to pay anymore money. I asked that the detail be sewn straight onto the dress this time too, and if possible for me to see pics of it before they send it, just to check it's correct.
I also sent a pic of the ties and asked if these can be redone too (worth asking!).
Fingers crossed it's all ok on take two!0
