    Hi littlel, glad you're back!

And really glad you're happy with your dress.... It's sweet your mom was in tears... I'd have to poke mine in the eye to provoke that sort of reaction ;)

Honeypop, I'm really sorry you're so disapointed, and I can completely understand the cost implication. I couldn't afford to risk £100 just in case the dress didn't turn out ok so I got mine from an outlet store in my local town... I do hope that spending some time with the dress will make you like it a bit more, maybe focusing on the bits of it that you like more than the bits that are wrong might help? And try it on too, they always look so different on!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • Oh Honeypop. I'm so sorry to hear of your dress disaster. You must be so upset.

Hi girls, not been able to get back on since Sat afternoon, had family visiting etc so something to keep my mind occupied instead of dwelling on this all weekend. To answer most of you…

Maybe they will give you a refund if it's really not what you wanted?...Was it from Landy?

Yes it was from Landy, I am going to email Thursday to explain everything that is different to what I asked for and request that they refund me the money. I can’t try it on until Thursday when my friend gets back off holiday, so I’d like to know if it even fits before writing the email to them.

i really feel for you, you must be devastated. Is it really different from what you asked for? Because there should be someway of getting your money back, or a new dress? Maybe when you try it on you may feel different, it took me a few goes of trying it on before i liked mine, i was shocked and numb when i first saw mine.

It is very different to what I asked for. Not just that, but it was based on AA1136 (the back of) and Maggie ‘Adelaide’ (the front of) and it’s even very different to what they look like!! So it’s not like it looks the same as those but without the changes I asked for, it looks a lot different to the originals AND what I requested. How can someone get it so wrong? I’ve seen the pics of yours which is Adelaide, and the detail on the bust and hip is completely different on mine! People keep saying to me it might be different when I try it on but even if it fits, it’s a completely different dress than I wanted, plus it looks so poorly made that I couldn’t wear it anyway.

honeypop, I'm so sorry this has happened to you. When is your wedding love and what size are you? Mine is in two weeks and I'm also 5 foot tall so maybe I can help you out?

The wedding is 11th October, so 4 months to go. I know it’s quite a way ahead but after a quick ring round some bridal shops this morning, that isn’t long enough to order a dress in and get it altered to fit if needed. I’d have to buy one off the rack, assuming they had something that I liked and that fitted reasonably well. I’m a size 12/14, although not been able to eat all weekend so may well be a 10 by the time it comes round lol! I am thinking of the shops as OH said if that’s the only way to be sure what I’m getting then we may have to pay the price of a shop bought dress (I am also checking ebay to see if anyone lists either of the dresses, missed out on an original AA1136 in my size and colour which sold last week for £250!! I was going to bid incase my dress wasn’t what I wanted but I had faith in it so didn’t bid. Doh!)

Oh sweetheart, I am so sorry that you're disappointed. I'd like to offer my help on the dress front as well. Our wedding is 5th July, I'm 5 ft 2, roughly size 14 and my dress is an 'homage' to Mori Lee style 2106 - very flattering for tummies, chapel train, some beading on the side. Let me know if this is of interest and we can get you sorted...Have you emailed them to tell them you are in tears about it? Don't foget to take photos of the dress just to make sure you have the proof. There's still time to get it sorted out.

I haven’t emailed yet, want to check the fit on Thursday before writing to them. Hopefully they will understand that it is SO different to what I asked for. Thank you for the kind offer of your dress but I had my heart set on something in gold.
How long have you got before the wedding?
What sort of style are you looking for?

So as above, 4 months to go, but I wanted it sorted asap as can’t buy veil, accessories and jewellery until I have the dress and they need to be sorted before my hair trial (which was this month, got to cancel now), so I wanted to have it sorted asap.

I really wanted a gold coloured dress, white and ivory just don’t suit me at all. Sweetheart neckline if possible, short-ish train, lace-up back, some sparkle or detail on the back (so it’s not boring to look at from behind when in the church, my mum says lol!). I’m a 12/14, and 5’1 tall (although will be wearing heels).

Honeypop, I'm really sorry you're so disapointed, and I can completely understand the cost implication. I couldn't afford to risk £100 just in case the dress didn't turn out ok so I got mine from an outlet store in my local town... Yes I will try it on, although as I said it won’t change the fact it looks poorly made, the detail looks like a nursery class did it (imo). I could have coped with it if it simply wasn’t what I asked for but was still a very nice dress, I’d have still worn it, but I’d be embarrassed to turn up wearing this, honestly.

So my plan of action is this: try it on Thursday, email them about everything that’s wrong and await a response. Meanwhile, book appointments at ALL local bridal shops to see what they have in their sample sale sections in my size and try everything on, even if it’s not what I had in mind. I know it will cost more money, but at the moment I have no choice. I’m not sure if I can risk them making me another one and 2 months down the line that isn’t right either and then I’ll have even less time to get something sorted. Keep checking ebay/preloved/confetti for sale forum to see if anything is listed in a style I liked (and my size of course).

Apart from my dress, having checked over the bridesmaids dresses, they are a different colour red to the sample I received and agreed to, which is annoying as I took that everywhere with me and matched a lot of other things to it for the decoration etc. Will have to see if they fit too, can check one on Thursday. I also had 7 mens ties made in the same colour as my dress, for the ushers and fathers, and the at the bottom of the ties, where it comes to a point, these are all wonky and the point isn’t in the centre, think more like a ‘tick’ shape with one side longer than the other!! They can’t wear these. They’re the wrong colour anyway, as I mentioned the gold she made my dress in wasn’t right, this is more beige I’d say, but they could still have worn them, but not like this.

I am more relaxed about it now, definitely helps to vent it all on here, sorry girls lol!

    hi honeypop,

sorry to hear you're disappointed with the service from Landy - I'm a bit panicked as I've just recently ordered from them.

I was also planning on ordering extras, but your experience has made me think again :( I hope you find their customer service good!

Like you, I've ordered a combination of 2 dresses, but I hoped they would be able to copy them without a problem. I was not organised in enough time to order swatches, but I know that the colour swatches in asapbay and landybridal look entirely different on my screen.

I can only hope that the one I picked is the one I get & is wearable. I'm also wondering whether I should order a back-up from elsewhere, but as I'm a short @rse too I doubt I'd be able to sell it on.

I wish you all the best & am so sorry you've been disappointed.

    Lots of love,

    cs xxx
  • Do you think they could have sent you someone else's dress in a post room mix-up?

I really hope you get this resolved.

Do you know anyone that speaks chinese, that might be able to help out? Perhaps if communication was in their language it might be easier to explain your complaints.

I think you should maybe email the seller now - is there anything on her site which states you have to contact them within so many days if not happy.

Regardless of whether the fit is perfect or not, it sounds like the dress is unwearable anyway. And if the ties and the bridesmaid dress are wrong too - what a total nightmare. If you paid by credit card i am sure you can get your money back that way; but i guess you will have to see what the seller says first before you go down that route.

I am so sorry for you, cannot imagine how disappointed you must be. I am sure you will find a suitable alternative - I hope you get a refund.

Mine will look different to some extent as i paid extra for swarovski crystal to be added to the bust and side, have to admit i wasnt happy with my sweetheart neckline, wasnt sweetheart enough if that makes sense?!? But the lady who put in a new zip for me put in a bit of steel boning for me so it held its little shape that it had. I did expect mine to be covered too across the bust and on the back at the top of the zip with crystals like the original, and i think without me paying for the extra crystals i would of been a bit peed off, as it would of been only sequins!

God i wish i could help you in some way, i hope you get something sorted

I agree - get on the emails now. even if it fits, you're not happy with, it's not whta you asked for or paid for. Let them know, they could make a fuss if they record it being signed for, then you waiting a week to tell them.

PLus it's an extra week to get it sorted out.

I'm sure you'll look beautiful no matter what happens
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Current Pay Off Target : £1500

OH also suggested it might be someone elses dress, so maybe I will try that angle in my email to them rather than just saying its wrong. I came home today and put it on just to check sizing and it looks as if it will do up with both sides of the dress coming together completely rather than having a gap between the lacing area, so it's definitely too big anyway. On top of that, I opened the packet with the petticoat in, to find it's a massive 3 hooped thing, when I ordered a 2 hoop A-line one - it keeps on getting better lol! So maybe it isn't my order at all, although the bridemaids dresses are right (ish).

Thought you might like some pics, so:

The front is meant to look like Maggie Sottero Adelaide

Bodice and Bodice 2: Not sure where the floral embroidery has come from, it's supposed to be beading ALL over the bust. Those 'ruffles' are tacked down flat like that, it's supposed to look gathered to the side. The original has a sweetheart neckline, mine is straight, as you can see. Bust detail is embroidered on a piece of net which overlays the satin and looks funny. Hip detail is meant to be beads and crystals, not embroidery and sequins. Again, this is sewn onto net which is then tacked to the dress (Close Up) and it's all lifting away round the edges, with loose threads all hanging out.

The back is Alfred Angelo 1136

Back: This is meant have beading all along the top and I asked to make sure it goes all the way down the sides of the lacing area, got more embroidery pattern. Again the netting is lifting away all round the edges. The detail on the train is meant to be beads and crystals in pointy ended oval shapes, and it's more of the same. Admittedly the back doesn't look too bad in itself, just not like the actual dress I wanted, however there are lots of loose threads and seams that are about to come open, and the net edging on the detail is all bad.

Looking at it as a whole, its isn't as awful as I first thought, but it looks as if it will fall apart within the hour and the detail is badly stitched on, loose threads everywhere so not sure if seams will hold, plus it is so big that I can't even pull it in to fit properly on the waist and hips. The colour is still wrong though, not sure if all monitors will show the difference here, mine at home does and my work one doesn't: Colour gold on the left is my sample I received, the one on the right is what the dress is, a darker gold, almost beigey/grey looking kind of, the pics of the dress actually make it look more golden than in real life.

Maybe I could sell it as a bargain dress for someone who doesn't mind the quality of it. It might be perfect for someone else who likes the colour and wasn't expecting beading all over instead of floral embroidery.

Just for a laugh, here's also a wonky tie!

Am going to email her tomorrow about it all. Sorry to take up so much of the thread lately, OH isn't interested in hearing about it all as he doesn't want to know anything about the dress and I can't tell him whats wrong with it without giving things away as to what it looks like.
