  • Maybe I'm in the minority here but "the dress" is not the be all and end all of my day. Yes I want to look fantastic but there is no way I need to spend an absolute fortune to do so. The vision that walks down the aisle will be nothing like the me that OH will be saddling himself with for the next X years (she says sat here in her bright red penguin pj's):rotfl:

Nope, I'm totally with you. One can get totally carried away with dresses, but as good MSEs we have to keep in in check. And as you have proved, you can have an amazing dress without paying a fortune.

I fully intend to have one of the China shops make the dress of my dreams - once I've worked out what that is. :T

with clear staps so quite well supported anyway

I feel quite foolish now... Have ordered a pile of strapless bras to try under my dress and find the best fitting one... Started trying them today (though without the dress cos that's a 2 person job) and was really disappointed at the support in them... Quite obviously I should just stick the clear straps on and see how they hold up then... Duh...

My dress isn't the be all and end all of the day... quite obviously that is the cake...;)

Oh and soaking in milk removes blood ;)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

The bodyshaper thingy I have settled on has removable clear straps and a clear back strap as my dress is lace up and I don't want it to show. It didn't feel like it would do the job until I got my dress on over the top and then took the straps off. If I'm honest it's the most uncomfortable thing I've ever worn when it was under a t-shirt but at a fiver thought it was worth a try :p

It makes my dress stay put beautifully and stops gravity overpowering the boning and as its underwired it pushes things up that important bit. Don't want to be tripping over anything else :rotfl:

    LMAO!!!:rotfl:

I've got a few boned corsets but they're obviously not designed for sitting and eating... Since it's one of my favourite passtimes... I'd like to do it comfortably ;)

Actually because of the shape of my dress, nothing else needs pulling in... I just need lifting... I'm going to try the clear straps, I'm sure with the veil and everything (I ordered the long one yesterday!) they won't be noticable... unless your looking...

Could you take the straps off just for the photos if they do show and then stick them back on again?

as long as the photos don't take forever you should be ok or make sure you stand still :rotfl:.

Failing that could someone support your bra from behind while holding onto your veil :rotfl:

Apologies I'm in a really silly mood today :j

Yeah, my aunt would stand behind me n hold my busooms up for me while she stands on the veil to keep it from flying away... I mean, what are matrons of honour for?!

Well, my daughter's dress turned up today. It's a Maggie Sottero, style: Dion.

Bought on Ebay, brand new, never worn, including stole and bag. For................£128 including postage:eek: :T

It looks fantastic on her, we will have to get it shortened though, she's only 5ft 4inches, so even with 4 inch heels it's too long!:rotfl:
We are soooo pleased, only the rest to oranize now!:rotfl:
    I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!

  • I have seen jewelled straps somewhere too.It was 3 strands of chain with beads allover them and the fastenings on the ends for the bra to slip over. They may be a nice alternative to strapless or clear and did look quite strong.Cant think where I seen them though, maybe in a Pia jewellery catalogue.
My SIL makes jewellery so I could perhaps ask her to make these for my wedding dress, once I decide on a dress that is.

It was Pia.£20 though but I am going to get these, see how strong they are and then have some made if they are going to be strong enough. They would match my simple wedding jewellery.
