My dress came from asapbay and I'm over the moon with it.
I see that this other site also shows the pictures from the original designer rather than their own dresses.
How many times have you been into a high street store and items have loose buttons and wonky hems?
If you're not happy then don't order. When i ordered mine i was prepared to ditch it if it was awful as it cost so little but I have no reason to do this and have a dress made especially for me that I love.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

I thought if it needed some alterations doing then it woudl be worth paying another £100 to have that done as the savings will still be about £700. :T0 -
Yeah, I used Milly in the end cause I could find much more info and examples of their work on the net. I did almost use asapbay though!
It is horrific what is happening over in China, I'm so glad that none of my close relatives are over there. All my family are in Hong Kong!0 -
Well my dress was perfect too! Only have to look at my photos to see how happy i am wearing it. I too also thought well if it is a pile of !£$£ i have lost a small amount of money.0

Has anyone tried on an original designer version of their dress instore and then ordered a cheaper (copy) version of the same dress.I would be really gratefull of the first hand comparisoins between the two, fabric quality and thickness, material differences such as beads and embroidery etc.
I know that the original designers dresses are likely also made in china but its just the fact that I can get an £800+ dress for under £100 including delivery from china thats making me worry re quality.
Anyone made like for like comparisons?"Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -

I actually tried on the Maggie Sottero Dress Michelle in the shop and then ordered the copy from china. I will let you know the difference when it comes, but it is not due for a couple of months.:D0 -

I have a strapless dress with great underwear and a lace up back which keeps everything where it should be.
Have you tried any on? If so were you wearing a good strapless bra? I found it made a huge amount of difference.
How about spaghetti straps and a lace bolero?
Thanks.I will try that too.I have not tried dresses with straps so far.
I have only tried on very few and the best ones for me,the ones I felt safest wearing, were from debenhams.I think the really heavy material on those helped the tops stay up better and hold me in more.I have not tried spaghetti straps and have been trying the dresses on with my usual 'granny' bras underneath with clear staps so quite well supported anyway but feel a bit tarty in the basque style dresses.I also find they sit proud of my body at the top just above the bust and are quite gaping so anyone taller than me would be able to see my underwear.:o I will keep trying different styles and see what I feel nice in."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0 -

Nope sorry. After i went for a try on I changed the style of skirt I wanted. I am under on illusions that my dress is the same spec as the designer original but I love it and it fits perfectly.
Maybe I'm in the minority here but "the dress" is not the be all and end all of my day. Yes I want to look fantastic but there is no way I need to spend an absolute fortune to do so. The vision that walks down the aisle will be nothing like the me that OH will be saddling himself with for the next X years (she says sat here in her bright red penguin pj's):rotfl:Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Don't most of the debenhams ones come with detachable straps? I know their bridesmaid dresses do.
My dress stands away a bit at the bust and when I looked down I could see my underwear but it doesn't show and no one else could see it. I swapped the underwear for nude and no problem now.
Surely only HTB should be looking down your front anyway. If anyone else looks down my top I'll punch them. Any tips on how to get blood out of satin and organza? :rotfl:
