Last week I took my trolley back in Asda and someone had left theirs with the pound still in it. I put the two together got my token then pushed them both round to get the pound out.

  • I was told about the "see a penny, pick it up" thing when I was a kid.

If it was £5 note, I'd see if anyone was around who could have dropped it first - if not, I'd probably pocket it. Bigger than that, I'd hand go to the police station to hand it into the lost & found if no one was around who might have dropped it.

I always used to joke with my friends at school that I wouldn't go down for less than 20p.

:rotfl: :rotfl: would you like to rephrase that?!:rotfl: :rotfl:

every single penny counts when your wages do not cover your bills
I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.
  • I'd keep any amount of money dropped on the street.(Usually it's 1p coins though). If people are stupid enough to lose it, they don't deserve to get it back.
  • Without a PENNY you can not make a POUND?

My mother-in-law is a cleaner in a local school and it is amazing how many pennies she collects.

Unless you see someone in the act of actually dropping the money, you aint gonna know for sure who dropped it. Who's to say that someone might say, "yeah that's mine" when it isn't?

If i see money on the floor, my body language acts as though i dropped it & so therefore i pick it up. I don't trust anybody & if there's people nearby, they might say it was theirs and it wasn't, so i pretend it's mine :D

If i see someone in the act of dropping money out of their pocket, notes or coins, i will immediately let the person know. If it's a wallet found in the st with contact details, i would go to their address to personally give it back to them. I believe that if you do things like that, that good comes back to you.

But if it's notes/coins of any amount floating along the street with no wallet, then i believe that money belongs to the street & if the street don't need it, YOU DO !!

If i was to find £20 & hand it in to the police & someone later on came in claiming to have lost £20 & they end up getting the money, i can't see there's a way of knowing if the right claimant ends up with the money as that £20 could have been someone else's not claimed & that claimant at the police station, could have mistakenly lost their £20 elsewhere. So that's why i don't believe in handing in notes to the police.

My vote was the 1p because of the rhyme too, I can't help it - if I see a penny on the floor it'll be running straight through my head. "Find a penny, pick it up, and all day long you'll have good luck".

Really irritates me if it's at the end of the day and I've missed out on the rest!
