Ungrateful people who dont say thanks

Well hasn't Shrek opened up opinion, those who think you should thank everyone for everything and those who think that devalues the thank system. It is interesting that the moderator has removed Shreks request for thanks (as they usually do) and I rather think you shoot your own argument down when you say
thanks isn't expect but if an individual wants to thank someone then that's up to them
And that to my mind is what it boils down to, I leave advice because I want to share knowledge that might help someone, I certainly wouldn't harangue them because I felt my time should be recognised and they didn't. I have had thanks and seem to be doing alright for a relative newby.
Trafalgar
while I think shrek has a point ,it's not nice for us all to start name calling and making personal comments about any poster ........is it?
Shrek101
I never insulted them at all.
Yes you did, you called me ungrateful and arrogant. You titled your post “ungrateful people who don't say thanks”, I do say thanks when I think it is appropriate and I am grateful for advice as I did to you only a few days ago when you replied to another of my posts. So why compare me to people who post for advice and NEVER acknowledge anyone?. That is an understandable grievance, but I did not deserve the vitriol you gave me.
Final word to the big lebowski
My comment: I can't imagine what it's like to be so sensitive that recieving or not recieiving thanks makes a blind bit of difference to my day one way or the other
You are going to be sadly disappointed if you expect gratitude for everything you do in life….. time to move on.0 -

shrek101 - no longer a user. Goodbye folks.
Erm, goodbye then.
If you leave you stop posting.
But well done on starting a pointless thanks 'fest' - you've just proven how pointless the whole thing is.0 -
The Thanks button shouldn't be used as a popularity contest. Just because one person may have more than another does not mean they are a 'better' MSE'er than another. The button is there simply for people to click if they genuinely think a post has been useful. At the same time, there is no obligation for people to use it and I don't think people should take offense if it's not been used in one of their posts. It is afterall a 3rd party addon to the forum software and not used in many forums so some people may not even be aware of it.
This post is now full of too many personal comments so I'm closing
