Euro Profile Cylinder locks not safe

Good morning. You do make a valid point of course, but if they enter using a brick at least my insurance company will be able to see the damage and I will be covered. The greatest worry for me with this whole lock bumping thing, was to have a visit from an unsavoury charactor and lose all my stuff, and then find out I am not covered becasue the police or the insurance company said I left my door unlocked.0

Remember 33% of all breakins are by opportunist thieves gaining entry through open doors and windows - many whilst people are indoors!
A further 40% are carried out by people who know their targets personally.
The majority of breakins occur between 7am and 9pm - not at night. And more occur during the winter especially on the build up to Christmas.

A useful reminder above to anybody who has stumbled across this thread as it has now been revived. Remembering to lock your doors and close the windows will give you the best protection. I won't be rushing out to buy 'bump proof' locks.0 -
the patterson says 100% bump proof but it doesnt say anything about picking or snapping0
-
Will be interested to see how this develops.
One thing you can do is fit a security gate/mesh outside/inside the rear door. Have seen it fitted to some houses and does make it more secure.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problemsWell at least i learn something on the way

I recently replaced my front & rear door cylinders with anti-bump anti-snap ones. £62 a pair, including keyed alike fee plus 4 extra keys.
These were ordered by phone from the Barnsley Lock & Safe company. Very good price & rapid service (had them delivered to work, for obvious reasons). I found out about them from another very positive post on this site.0 -
i was talking to an larm fitter last yr and he said one of the worst times for opportunist thieves is school picking up time - parents think they are only going to be out of the house for 20mins or so and probably don't shut windows/doors or set alarms .
i "broke " into my mums house with pvc door when she shut it with keys inside, it only took a matter of seconds - so even if u are going out for a short time ,make sure you lock them rather than leaving it on latch0 -
Do you know anyone who's been burgled by bumping?
I'd be more worried by violent house-breaking car jacking than this.
Incidentally, it doesn't look like any of those locks linked to are bump-proof. And no-one claims to have made a bump-proof lock either - they can't do it.
Any locked can be opened without a key, you just needs tools and a bit of time. There are far better things people can do to reduce the likelihood of being burgled than spending money on snake-oil.
actually there is a cylinder out there that is anti pick, anti bump and anti snap company called avocet abs and they are reasonable in price to just order online0 -
Reasonably priced secure locks here www.handlestore.com . I have used them twice and found the locks to be very good quality.0

#30 looks like spam to me......
Maybe, maybe not, but I can recommend Avocet locks as we have recently had them installed in our house. We'd had a few burglaries in our area and were advised by the police to change our locks. We used the company recommended by the police and that is what they fitted. I did some research on them and they do seem to be very good locks.
