Am pooped done another load of washing and discovered that smne cheeky sod has nicked my wheelie bin:eek: not impressed:mad:  will have battle on my hands when I phone Gwynedd Council Monday am as it is their policy to charge £125  for a new wheelie bin I am going to have to speak my best Mancunian welsh for that battle! Shed deposited at tip:T just got the rest of it to shift now
In November last year over a period of 3 weeks I had 3 wheelie bins stolen, I reported the thefts to our local police station they said as long as I had a crime number the local council would replace them free! Called the council with the crime number and they did replace them for free, had to wait a couple of weeks for each one but got them in the end. £125 is outrageous, I need an extra bin for paper and our council charge £20 for them.:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

Evening all - hope somebody missed me!:coffee:Hot chocolate anyone?
:hello:- hello to all the newbies, welcome an enjoy yourselves.
JillD - congratulation son weight loss. Really well done.
AnW's mum - thinking of you at this difficult time.
Michelle - amazing picture!
I've been flying very erratically this week, probably due to the tennis elbow, but I'm having another injection on Friday morning. Anyway, not even going to post, but list doesn't look too bad, to be honest.
Also fitted the vertical blind on sunlounge window and made scones and flapjacks today. Tomorrow, apart from preparation for the Management reviews as well as the training sessions, I've to fit the new kitchen blind, DS's new red blackout blind and black lined curtains (his choice of colour scheme) , which should mean he'll sleep easier and won't hurt his eyes so much. Also got a smallish ironing pile, but got to get washing done.
Foster puppy went happily off to Scotland today! They travelled down from Glasgow this morning, arriving here about 3.30, but were breaking the journey overnight. The hosue seems very quiet, but my two seem glad to have the place to themselves.
I can't remember who said about the insurance and the laptop, sorry, but I've spoken to insurers and am waiting for the claims department to get back to me. Depending what they say, I may not continue the claim, as "whoever" suggested.
Someon mentioned the charge for a bin. I thought you might be interested in the following, which my brother wrote to the newspapers:
"Now don't get me wrong, I fully support the drive to reduce the ridiculous amount of waste that households produce each week, but the mindless way in which councils are applying their one-bin collection policy was observed by my father-in-law the other day. My wife's parents live in a block of 4 warden controlled flats. The gentleman in the flat below has severe physical disablities and has daily visits from carers to attend to his needs. Social services and the carers themselves contacted the council to request a second bin to contain the solied dressings etc that result from these daily visits. On collection day my father-in-law noted that the domestic refuse collector (bin man) pushed my father-in-law's bin back inside the gate. When the bin man was challenged he explained that there were too many bins for the number of households and that the extra could not be collected. That may be so, my father-in-law replied, but he had only put out one bin and had a right for that bin to be collected. On checking, the bin man noted that this was so and the extra bin was from the flat below. The special arrangement was explained to him but after checking with his co-worker (the driver) he decided that the one-bin policy must be enforced whereupon he deposited one bin, contents and all into the rear of the bin lorry leaving a full bin, but only one bin behind. The irony of his action, that by applying the policy he undermined the objective of reducing landfill, was obviously lost on this employee. And of course, the extra bin will need replacing and a separate collection had to be made for the remaining full bin. So if you were wondering where all your extra refuse tax, council tax, bin surcharge etc are going, it's on replacement bins, extra and unnecessary collections and an excellent and effective policy education programme for refuse collectors."
Anyway, hope to catch up with you all tomorrow. Hugs to anyone who needs/wants one. Night night and may your God bless you.x

Bin was put at end of alley with all others for collection on Friday and has disappeared! has house number and address on it so shouldn't be too hard to spot-have combed the area and offered reward to son if he finds it but to no avail!
Wait until Friday again then and go with your son to see if you can see it, whoever took it will put it out, maybe they took it in by mistake.0 -

Engadine I use these in addition to my green box, I think I paid less for them, I got them in Home Bargains. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bright-recycling-storage-bags-metal-paper-glass_W0QQitemZ260213334449QQihZ016QQcategoryZ98850QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I bought them to put the recycling in at first in the house but I always have extra recycling so asked the guys who do the collection and they said they'd prefer me to use them. Likely because we currently have one box for paper, cans and glass with no dividers and they have to sort through it at the wagon.
As far as bin collection goes ours is terrible, they have missed mine 6 times since we moved in in October, they also refuse to empty if the lid won't shut which tends to happen when you have 2 boys in pull ups/nappies and haven't had a bin emptied for 2 weeks!
Some more studying done. Just going to update on spendingdiary.com then try and do some sort of meal plan. Rain a possible on the forecast for tomorrow and DP is away again so I think I will just hibernate!
Bother, I'm bleeding from somewhere but I can't figure out where.....One day I might be more organised...........

What do you do with the plastic bottles then and also do you know where i can get cheap storage units to hide my recycling boxes because they are out the front of my house and look horrid?0 -

My local council are a nightmare! They won't collect anything that isn't in the bin, no extra bags or boxes etc. They will empty the bin if the lid isn't closed properly but they do check inside them to see that the correct waste is in the bin! We have 3 bins one for paper and plastic, one for general household waste and one for garden waste as well as a black box for glass:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

Plastic bottles go in the bin unfortunately because our councils only recycle paper, glass and cans. That's all they do unfortunately. Cardboard I have to take to the tip. Plastic bottles etc are not even recycled at the local tips.
We have a small box (about 1/5th size of the bin) for glass, paper and cans the collectors will take the bags but like I said probably because it makes it easier for them. 1 wheeled bin which the lid must close on or they won't empty it and they will take no extra bags etc.
Argos do those hidey cupboards for bins etc I think if you have a look in there you might find what you need Kimberley. One day I might be more organised...........

Lil_me I brought the leeks in Lidl - great price and british. They are my favourite vegetable to grow - really easy and as leeks tend to be expensive well worth it - I'll try to let you know when I am sowing mine.
Had a right scream up at the kids before bed - they have been mean to each other all day so I thought I'd be mean to all of them.
Pigpen - that was not a typo - the way he acted when he tasted it you would have thought death was imminent - made it so that DS3 would not try it, stupid child - he is the one who has school lunches and nearly always eats it all. My cooking aint that bad.
bins - we don't have wheelies (only for garden waste) so it is black bags round here. We only have one (not full even) bag a week so never a problem thankfullyThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

Wouldn't it be so much easier if all the councils had the same policy for recycling! Mind you nothing is that easy and straight forward!!!:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j
