:j Hi Everyone,
I'm doing a history dissertation too, its in medieval history which makes it even more difficult where primary sources are concerned! I've got most of my ideas ready, found my sources both secondary and primary. Just got to get moving with the writing up! I'm aiming to have a chapter done by the end of November.
Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone. I'm back at uni tomorrow (been studying but the course reconvenes now as I'm a part timer). I can't wait to see everyone and the new first years... and I love going to lectures.
It's just the reading and writing bit that is hard slog! Just started on a new module and trying to get into good habits. If only life didn't keep getting in the way.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
So how's everyone doing?
I must admit that I've been too busy with other aspects of my course and haven't got much further than deciding on the question and identifying interviewees.
I've still got plenty of time until deadlines though.0 -
Not doing well here... I have an assignment (not my thesis topic) and already have an extension by a week with a final due date for 8th December. I'm really struggling to get it done, having changed topics once and read loads but finding it hard to get it down in writing. I think I'm getting worse and it doesn't help being part time. I have so much on at work and am tired in the evenings...
I said last time I wouldn't leave it till last minute and I have again. It's my fault I'm so stressed now and really struggling to finish in time.
Do you ever ask yourself why are you doing it???somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -

I feel your pain and yes, I ask myself that often, and I'm only an undergrad!0 -
Thanks bestpud. It is getting there slowly but I'm likely to run out of time as I'm very busy from now until end of Friday (work mainly). I do have the weekend though living 80+ miles from uni is a problem, as Id have to deliver it on Sunday. And my printers not doing v well with large documents so I'd probably be printing on Monday... I wonder if I can email (on deadline) then follow up with a hard copy in the post?
The alternative is to go for an extension again but that would give me until 1st March, which I most definitely don't want!somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -

I'm asking myself that right now!! How are you getting on pandora???
I'm now preparing my proposal and am aiming to hand it in just before the deadline, though whether I can achieve that remains to be seen. I've got another assignment to hand in in a couple of weeks too!
The crazy thing about my course is that the dissertation is actually worth less than the other assignments we have to do in the 3rd year, yet the dissertation word count is more than twice the size of any of them!!
How is everyone else doing??? Keep at it guys, it'll be worth it in the end!0 -
Hi Catseyez. It sounds like you are pretty busy too... I wish it got easier with time but despite many years of studying (most years ago) I still find it really difficult to do the writing part.
I went for an extension in the end as I just ran out of time. Since then I've sorted out my literature (filed stuff into sections) and made an even more detailed plan but not written a thing! I'm not sure what happened to Christmas and New Year when I thought I'd have loads of time...... My deadline is now 1st March though I want to get it in long before then.
So time to get back to it. I also want to start the pilot study for my main research, though I'm not ready to roll with this yet. This will be much easier as it is my own chosen topic and I'm quite keen to get going. Again, the literature search and intro etc will be a chore though necessary but I can leave much of that until the summer.
What's your deadline?

I've got an extension on mine too.
I'm half way through, at least. Lit review is done and most of the methodology.
Just the actual study bit and discussion now.
I have until May but I'm aiming for the end of Feb, at the latest.0
