They know why I can't go in tomorrow, it's just the anxiety of not knowing about an extension until after the last draft submission deadline.
TBH I either get an extension or I don't, and if I don't I'll just have to submit what I've got, fail and get a 40% pass on resit in the Autumn.
I'm pretty peed off, but it's only a course at the end of the day, and if I have the degree sans 'honours' but great references, I should get a job, which is the main thing with a family, the rest can't be helped.
Thanks again bestpud
Ahh, good luck in that case! I thought you'd not told anyone as yet and felt it had to be worth a try. I'm relieved to read you've applied for an extension.
When you say they've had complaints, do you mean students have moaned about people getting an extension when they didn't, or students getting two extensions? Either way it is petty. Some students really take the proverbial.
Why won't they let you know until after the deadline? That seems unfair. My friend has been granted an extn and was told two weeks before the deadline.0 -
Where has your post gone jay? If I hadn't quoted it, I'd be thinking I'd lost the plot! :rotfl:0

It's the 'last draft' deadline, not the actual deadline, pretty important at this level though.Anytime;)0 -

Gutted in a way cos I love research and wanted to do a phd, but I can only manage so much, so there it is. The diss. only adds the 'honours' bit anyway, and isn't worth a breakdown.
Sorry to hear about all that!! I hope things work out, it's definately not worth a breakdown, good luck x0 -
I'm SPSS-ing today too!! what you stuck on?
well..i finally got the hang of inputting the data (between subjects and within subjects)and have done lots of analyses. It just having to see the wood for the trees now...so many results, many of which are not really relevant..but i am getting there.. i think!
Does anyone have any tips on structuring the discussion part..i've not started this section yet and am uncertain on how to approach it.0 -

Maybe you could structure it according to your hypotheses? Take each hypothesis in turn and discuss whether or not it was supported, and what this means, and whether it's the same or differrent to what previous studies have found. Then go on to talk about reasons why you might have gotten the results (e.g. strengths and limitations of your study). You could conclude by talking about what your study means in real terms i.e. why it's useful and what future studies could do to improve/expand upon it.
good luck!
my spss results don't make any sense to me either right now, i'm having a meeting today about them so hopefully that'll help clear things up0 -
