Dissertation motivation!

my discussion was only about 10 ish pages.dunno if it was any good or not as i dont know my marks for it.
with the expected research you have found i would mention it. i was told as long as it is related to the same topic then it is relevant even if its slightly vague to the angle of your experiment. mine was on an inhaled vaccine for a specific disease, so i talked about papers on vaccines on my topic, not necessarily inhaled, other inhaled vaccines not for my topic etc. and compared the results to mine. if you mention them it shows you have done a broad range of research into the topic, which may or may not be relevant in the long run.
if it was me i would talk about each paper properly, a paragraph or 2, but not too much on each and link it to your study if possible in any way. mention that although there is a lot of comprehensive studies into x, i did y to try and see if this improved or added to any research already done. does that make sense? ha my brain is a bit mangled from microbial physiology revision. hope that helps a bit.

Thanks, only a little bit--it's focus group research, so it's some of the participants responses which don't quite fit with the question asked, and of course I have to present all the responses to ensure honesty and transparency.

My lit review findings are Ok (with luck anyway?), it's just the high proportion of primary research responses that are outside both the study remit and my study field (difficulties of keeping people focussed on the actual questions?). Ah well, thanks for responding, sorry I wasn't clearer in my original post.

Mine's in, but we did the fatal thing of people discussing it after and now i have a slight panic, cause people are saying your biblography should be in a-z order and mine wasn't. It didn't state it anywhere, but i'm a little worried now....hoping it will all be ok though cause i think it was all laid out properly apart form the a-z...so relieved it's done though...2 more essays to go!

Well done on finishing. Our bibliography was supposed to be a-z but I completely forgot so mine isn't!

Phew!!!!!! It's all over....its printed, bound and handed in, now all I have to do is sit and stew for the next 6 weeks till we get the results!!!

I am completely drained, both physically and mentally, it was the most demanding thing I've ever done and pretty stressful too. Still its done and now I'm giving myself a week or so as a break before I start my next and final assignment. Besides I have to concentrate on my final placement and pass my competencies in practice so that I can qualify in September...Woohoo:j

I should have really posted in here before but didn't want to get depressed reading about how everybody else had finished and I hadn't!

Fortunately I managed to completely finish it yesterday apart from getting my parents to read through it to check for grammatical errors. I'm not too sure they are enjoying reading 14,000 words about infrastructure for housing, its not exactly thrilling!

I'm strangely excited about getting it bound, which is a bit sad

OMG! Have reached an impasse! Just can't seem to get going again! Feeling physically sick with panic!

Am a bit stuck on dividing/sectioning everything up, not sure where to put summaries of past papers and not sure how to present my actual results - even simple things like labelling the units on the y-axis of my HPLC-DAD chromatograms are proving a stumbling block at the moment! God help me when it comes to titling them!

Anyone who has done chemistry/science could you suggest a simple explanation of how liquid-liquid extraction works? I know its simple, but the words are failing me! And instead of moving on and coming back to it, I spent two hours searching the t'interweb and getting fed up cos there wasn't anything sensible to use!

Its still only 4,700 words long, so need at least 4,000 more words and just can't see where they are going to come from!

Edit: And, yes, I know posting on here isn't best use of my time, but need some encouragement aka a kick up the @rse!
