-Fold up bedding and put inside the matching pillowcase. Your linen cupboard will be neat and then you just pull out the pillowcase you want and everything you need is inside it.
sorry if these have been mentioned already. this is a great thread!
Now THIS I think is a GREAT tip!!
Why the heck did I never think of that!!???
*slaps forehead*
BRILL!! I'll be adopting this one!:T:T:T

Just found this great thread, thanks to all who posted
Pleased to say that I already do some of these things but I'll bet that everyone would discover at least one tip that's new to them.
I don't know if you would count this tip as obvious but it works for me!:
While batch baking in my small kitchen I pile the bulky used baking trays, mixing bowls, cake tins etc into the top rack of my dishwasher, making more work space available. (If I'm really organised I fill the sink with hot soapy water and wash as I go along. This means that they drain while I'm busy and are available to reuse, which is handy with mixer attatchments etc)
I caught myself doing it this morning and thought that it might help someone...The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.

I can`t see one except on your posts, Eenymeeny. Maybe it`s because the others are old posts, but well worth a read so thanks for `bumping` it.
I have 2 gems to share....
Swede - instead of peeling/chopping/losing fingers, bung it in microwave then scoop out the insides when soft. I read this on these boards somewhere a while back, still want to thank the person who first posted it, whoever that was!
Laundry - Very Bad collars/cuffs, grease stains - DD told me about some stuff called Elbow Grease, multi-purpose spray on de-greaser (only a quid a bottle). Even OH`s `dirty jobs` old twill shirt has come up like new.0 -
Thanks Emm-in-a-pickle (love the name
) I'll watch out for Elbow Grease. I remember reading about the micro swede too (hate peeling them, they are dangerous vegetables!) I think that you 'stabbed' them first so they didn't explode, roughly how long do you cook them for please?

If you're buying tinned tomatoes for the store cupboard and not for use in a dish, buy whole ones.
Whole tomatoes can be used either whole or chopped. It's difficult to put chopped tomatoes back together again, if you need to use them whole.
PS. Chop tinned whole tomatoes while they're still in the can. It’s a lot easier than chasing the slippery little [CENSORED] around a bowl or pan.If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

What a great thread! I've noted down a lot of these tips.
Regarding the talk about face and baby wipes...I once used them to clean an oven! When I told my mum she commented that if they can clean an oven they can't be that good for our skin. But I find them the best things for getting makeup off unfortunately, does make you wonder though...
Some of my tips (I can't take credit for all of them, some are from Pinterest):
- I save all my glass jars, soak them in hot water after I've done the washing up with some of the leftover soap to remove the labels, then use them as vases. You can jazz them up by painting them or filling them up with things like buttons, corks or sliced citrus fruits before putting the flowers in.
- When you have a cold, use some elastic bands to attach an empty tissue box to a full one and put the dirty ones in the empty one, stops your house getting covered in dirty tissues.
- Put a magnetic strip on the inside of a drawer to hold all of your bobby pins.
- Freeze fresh herbs in ice trays with olive oil (better than dry freezing them as they won't absorb water and end up really wet when you defrost them).
- Put a spring from a pen on the cable of your charger (or any other elctrical cable that gets bent a lot) to stop it from bending and breaking.
- Put a wooden spoon over a pan to stop it boiling over.
- Put a rubber band over a paint can so it crosses the middle at the top and wipe the brush on there instead of clogging the rim of the tin.
- Use a can opener to open blister packs.

Just remembered this cleaning dough off my worktop this morning--
Instead of buying a dough scraper, use an old ID or library card. Works perfectly and it is free:)0 -
I have a gap between my desk and the wall, just big enough for wires to fall down. I was forever having to thread them back up through the gap. So I've wrapped rubber bands around the cables and now they CAN'T fall. Ha!0

If you have a dog who loves to roll in fox poo, then smear tomato ketchup on him prior to washing. This neutralizes the smell very effectively. I didnt believe the person who told me this but it does work! Washing without ketchup doesnt get rid of the smell.:j0
