Lakeland sell sauce bottle holders that will hold the bottles upside down in your cupboard without them falling over.
I have seen these but I tend to just put the bottle upsude down in a mug in the cupboard to make sure all the dregs come to the top of the bottleCC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Eenymeeny - re the swede thing - it depends how big and how fresh the swede is. If I have a big swede I cut it in half, cook on a plate cut-side-down, but I go by Feel - when it`s soft (squeeze the skin quickly with a teatowel round your fingers, it`s hot but a quick squeeze won`t burn your fingers this way)
If it`s not softened give it a few more minutes.0 -
To whoever posted the tip about putting a set of bed linen in the matching pillow case...A very big thank you! My linen cupboard now looks so organized and I wont be seaching for the right sheet with the right cover anymore particularly as we have 3 different sizes of sheets for everyone! It took me about 40 minutes to sort it all but mission accomplished now.0

To keep little gem lettuce really crisp and fresh for well over a week - slice off the very bottom of the stalk and stand in a mug with a little water in the fridge. It may work for other lettuces too ?0

If you add a little sprinkling (about half a teaspoon) of sugar to the water first it helps to 'recrisp' them tooThe beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Ive been doing the bedding thing in a pillowcase for years. It saves room as well as you need to fold things neatly to get them in.
I also have a set of guest towels I keep in a pillowcase to keep them together.
I suppose you could do the same thing with sets of anything.
For lettuce I saw a tip on TV that you put a sheet of kitchen towel in the bag with the lettuce to keep it fresh, including pre-washed. Havent tried it myself but it might work.

Sometimes when you buy broccoli it can be a bit limp. Just slice off about half a centimetre from the bottom of the stalk and discard it. Then put the broccoli in a mug of water for an hour or two to freshen up. A mug is just the right size to support the florets and keep them out of the water. It can then be stored for several days in a suitable plastic bag in the vegetable compartment of the fridge.0

I have a condenser tumble drier, when I empty the lovely warm water from the reservoir tank I use it to do a hand wash with.0

If your kitchen knives are in a wooden knife block, put them in resting on the back of the blade and with the sharp edge of the blade upwards.
Every time you wash & dry them, give them a few strokes of a knife sharpener and then put them away. They're then ready for the next time you use them. And, after a while, they'll have a really keen edge, with no real effort.
I recommend those little "X" shaped knife sharpeners. The big ones look impressive, but are really best left to the professionals. Electric ones are, IMHO, a waste of money.
PS. Keep some plasters (ideally those blue "detectable" kitchen ones) in the knife drawer, for the inevitable little accidents. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Another vote for the x shape knife sharpeners (Good grips ?) OH was a butcher and #2 son worked for a fishmongers, so both can sharpen a blade using a steel, but my little x shaped widget does the job just as wellPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
