Hey RachieB do you know whether on the ferry crossing supplements two people could just pay for two or whether its four minimum again?

I would look into booking ferry or Eurotunnel directly...
Eurotunnel is so much easier IMO. 35 mins crossing, not affected by strong winds and so easy to board etc0 -
We went to La Croix du Vieux Pont a couple of years ago, through the Sun and loved it. Was a small caravan, but that's just a place to get your head down isnt it? The site is lovely - clean, large and well laid out. Has a few lakes too if you're keen on fishing (take your own gear or hire out there)
Like someone said, it's an easy drive from Calais (A16 if I remember) and about an hour from Disney. Two towns are close by, Campagne and Soussons (not sure if correct spelling). We took a train from Campagne to Paris, seemed much easier than driving!
There's also a lovely chateau nearby, which must be visited!
As for getting across the channel, we used the Eurotunnel. Have a look on their website for deals. They often do cheap journeys for off-peak hours travel.
Apologies, it was the A26... and the two towns were Soissons and Compiegne! The actual site is close to the village called Vic sur Aisne0 -

Thanks anyway Rachie, I guess I'll just go by what it says - per person.

A couple of points if you have booked.
Read the small print usually under the "20 things every sun holiday maker needs to know" and be aware that the european camps take a deposit against damage of €50 or a non-refundable damage waiver charge - think it may be €15. They also make a charge for site upkeep. This is in addition to the booking fee you pay "The Sun" upfront.
Something else that catches people out is the Swimming trunks policy. No shorts allowed only speedo type trunks.
Hope this helps:beer:Politicians are like nappies - they should be changed regularly and for the same reason (Barry Cryer)0 -
Cheers Potaroo, I'd wondered about some of the points you mentioned (including the 'shorts'!)...Potaroo wrote:Something else that catches people out is the Swimming trunks policy. No shorts allowed only speedo type trunks.
I thought that was odd when I read one of the caravan site descriptions.

Does anyone know which La Croix or Domaine de Drancourt - makes comparing booking direct vs Sun prices more difficultPotaroo wrote:They also make a charge for site upkeep. This is in addition to the booking fee you pay "The Sun" upfront.
Is this the same as the 'final clean' fee? Do they all charge this?0 -

My husband and I travel around 12 times a week on Eurotunnel to get to work and from 14 years of experience of Eurotunnel, I can say that, given the choice, we will always choose a ferry over the tunnel. The service is very poor from 9pm to 6am and even druing the day trains get cancelled without notice, often making the trip longer than the ferry. In bad weather, the ferries get delayed and as a direct result, the tunnel gets blocked especially with freight, slowing down access to the tunnel site and meaning long queues for trains as those who cannot wait all try and get through the tunnel.
We are moving to Belgium in a few months and looked into using the Sun vouchers to book a weekend in a Dutch, Belgian or northern French site. However, I have found that you can get a mobile direct from Eurocamp, Keycamp and Canvas direct on the weekends of the offer for cheaper than the Sun's prices, given that the crossing element of the Sun offer is useless for us. So if you don't need or want the crossing, the Sun offer is not worth it.0 -

The two of us are on a tight (MSE!) budget, do you have any links to the sites showing these prices?
