Yes myself and wife and young daughter went there nearly ten years ago now, time flies
,and had a wonderful holiday. Lots to see and do nearby there`s a lovely fishing village ten minutes drive fom there (St Valery) with cafes, bars gift shops etc. A good supermarket nearby and a nice bar on site. And if my memory serves me right it`s only an hours and a half drive from Calais, a massive bonus if you`re a long way from Dover (we live in West Lothian, Scotland. We`ve also stayed at la croix du view pont, several times that`s also very nice. Whatever one you choose I`m sure you and your family will enjoy. 0 -
            Thanks Too Bloo.
Is there anything that is different about French caravan sites that would be useful to know? (Other than that they're French, of course!
)

Everything just seems much more relaxed, there`s not the usual in your face family "entertainment" of games arcades or people dressed up in cuddly animal costumes. That`s not to say that everything is deathly quiet either there are always bars and entertainment but just on a smaller scale. Its an altogether quieter type of campsite than the ones I`ve experienced in the UK. Enjoy!0

            Hi all,
Just been looking at this deal in closer detail. As they are only short breaks (3 or 4 days) you have to bear in mind the traveling involved. The free ferry is a dover-calais crossing. I would look at sites nearer to calais and also consider if you will have to stay over in a hotel the night before if its gonna be an early sailing.
When you choose your sites and dates I would compare the prices to some websites like Eurocamp, keycamp, french life. You might find that these holidays are not that much cheaper (I have seen holidays to France for as litte as £120 and if you are a family of six is it really worth collecting all the stamps when you could just book the hol). Also think about the time of year you are going. Some sites only have tents and if its going to be misearble then are you going to be happy staying in tent. And if it rains and the sites only have an outdoor pool will you be able to use it.
Lastly I just would like to remind all you Tesco Clubcard holders that you can use your clubcard vouchers towards Frenchlife hols and remember £1 of Tesco Vouchers = £4 in deals.
BTW for anyone who is interested I have camped in France (during the summer time) in one of their tents (which are fab) and have stayed Chateau Des Ormes France (but this is a bit of a drive from Calais and only has outdoor pools) and it was fantastic. The best hol ever.

Does anyone know if you can book a week? Or even if you could book the ferry to come back a few days later (and stay in France elsewhere). Seems a good deal but too far for us to drive for just a few days.0

We went to La Croix du Vieux Pont a couple of years ago, through the Sun and loved it. Was a small caravan, but that's just a place to get your head down isnt it? The site is lovely - clean, large and well laid out. Has a few lakes too if you're keen on fishing (take your own gear or hire out there)
Like someone said, it's an easy drive from Calais (A16 if I remember) and about an hour from Disney. Two towns are close by, Campagne and Soussons (not sure if correct spelling). We took a train from Campagne to Paris, seemed much easier than driving!
There's also a lovely chateau nearby, which must be visited!
As for getting across the channel, we used the Eurotunnel. Have a look on their website for deals. They often do cheap journeys for off-peak hours travel.0 -
Just reading thru the booking form, checking the ferry band times - as expected the only reasonable times for outbound journey have £5 pp supplements. Does anyone know if it is actually 'per person' ie £10 total as there are only two of us travelling, because obviously we have to pay accommodation £19.50 x 4, as if we were four people?0

work out how much it would cost for a family of four with a car and you will see you are getting a good offer for the sites but remember you will normally pay extra for upgrades /park pass/pool pass/nightclub pass etc in the british resorts too so add it all up before you commit we went to a site in cumbria with THE SUN two years ago and it cost over £100 in passes and a upgrade for 3nights stay
If anyone thinking of going deeper into France for a all action pact holiday with the kids i would recommend Ty Nadan In Brittiany brilliant. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -

fab isnt it
we have been twice with the sun too and will definitely go back :T
we dont think its too far for a 3 / 4 night break
we drive from south wales ! and stay near Dover the night before ( cheapy travelodge etc)
riddle, when we went ( oct 06 and july 07) i compared prices and we saved loads  was really chuffed  :j
you seem to make a much larger saving on the european ones, rather than the Uk ones ( even though we have still made a saving on each of our UK ones too :T )
even in late oct ,there was plenty for the boys to do ,they have an indoor swimming pool and table tennis etc
and we were lucky it was dry ( but cold!) and sunny so we did the boating on the lake, cycling, walking, boys played on the bouncy castle etc too
reeeeeeally want to go back soon ,and would totally recommend it to others
