Could the girls go to nursery for an extra afternoon? It would cost more in nursery fees, but you would get more in tax credits to cover it, and they would still be spending less time in nursery than a lot of kids, who go pretty much full time.

Just thinking an afternoon working in a shop or something, and one evening a week in a bar (plus your Argos hours) would probably add up to 16 hours. If you don't fancy bar work, what about working on the counter in a take-away? I did this during my exams and I used to get a free chinese meal thrown in too!

Sorry if someone has already suggested these, I've only skimmed so far! :o

  • In the absence of your usual diary and trying to find if you have a new one I came across this thread. (don't let those ghastly trolls stop you having a diary my lovely, that last one has severe issues even if what he says about his ex was true). I was wondering if you couldn't do something with K around like Kleeneze, Bettaware or Virgin Vie etc I appreciate there is usually a bit of an outlay to start with but if you could get your hands on that then you could work as many hours at a time that suited. If it was just delivering the catalogues then you could get you and K out and do that with the pushchair when Ash is in nursery. That would hit quite a few hours without really trying if you see what I mean. And then the deliveries you could do at night or weekends once Ste was home for the girls. Granted with VV there are the parties but Avon might work better then. I know there are often a lot of these things about but if the point is to get the hours of work rather than the money so that you qualify for childcare then that isn't really an issue is it. And you would be self employed so that has its own benefits as we already discussed when you were thinking of childminding. AND you could move your hours around to suit you and the girls a bit if they were sick or anything.
  • Just had a quick scout and it would seem you can get started on Kleeneze for £75 for the basic package. They don't specify your territory either so you can work wherever you want.
  • http://www.betterware.co.uk/content2.aspx?postingid=Distributor_Information&language=en-GB and if I am reading this correctly I can't see mention of an outlay but not sure if that really means there isn't one.
  • http://www.avon.uk.com/PRSuite//html/sellingavon/earnings.html and this would suggest £25 to get started so surely that is doable. As I say all you have to do is put in the hours WHEN IT SUITS YOU and the pay is kind of secondary in your situation. Plus Avon stuff isn't half bad and they have some great offers on sometimes which you would always know about and could stock up on so it could be moneysaving as well as moneymaking and childcare element qualifying. That is three birds with one stone and £25. Not bad.

edited to add it is only £15 to be a rep, £25 for a sales leader apparently. SEE!!!!!
