I am not personally in debt but am hoping to retire next year and have been reading the boards for tips on living on a reduced income. I have been in debt, about 35 years ago, when credit cards first started. In those days there were restrictions on where you could use them (were not allowed to be used for grocery shopping or paying bills) even so we managed to notch up £2000, mainly on DIY projects, which was a large amount in 1972. I was lucky enough to have an endowment policy which I surrendered early and cleared the cards.
I now only use a credit card for convenience and make sure I have the money to clear the balance each month.
I think your 20's are the ideal time to become DFW, keep going the way you are, 2012 will be here very quickly and you will feel very proud of what you have achieved.
Good Luck, Sandie
Thanks sandie!! To be honest i hope its gonna be cleared faster than 2012 but it wont be the end of the world if its not! I totally agree i think by becoming a DFW now i'll be flying once i have no debt hehe!!Aug £10 a day £0/£10000 -

Hiya - sounds like your doing really well. I wish I had your motivation.
Have you managed to list much stuff on ebay this weekend? I once got addicted to listing stuff on ebay, I even started selling stuff that wasn't even mine to sell, lets just say my brothers weren't very happy lol. Since then I have built up so much of my own rubbish I will have to have a listing day to get rid I think.
Keep up the good work you :T:T0 -
That's a target and a half for HSBC - 6 weeks?!!! Really hope you do it as they're a bunch of baskets and the less they earn in interest from any of us the better! (Says her who owes them about 40k!)0
