Well done! I intend to take up the unfair charges issue with BT too. I do not wish to pay by DD - in fact I prefer not to pay any bills using that method.0 -

Wonder how Ros Fernihough will get on, she normally deals with holiday problems, Ed Doolan on BBC WM always passing people on to her to get problems sorted with Airlines, Travel Agent and Holiday firms etc.
Myself I prefer everything by Direct Debit and it is so much easier and I don't have to worry about if I'm paying on time. However there are some who aren't great at budgeting and money management so need to be able to pay by non-DD means and shouldn't really get stung for it. After all that is what late payment charges are for. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

I still can't get my head round how they charge £1.50 for monthly payers and £4.50 for quarterly payers. Surely they only take the money once therefore the quarterly payers should be £1.50 as well???? If this is just a ploy to get people to pay on time, why not charge £1.50 if the payment is late? I could live with that.....0

All Basic Bank accounts allow direct debits.
I did not say basic current account I said basic bank or savings account if you want to call them that examples I where thinking of are with a passbook. As far as I am aware you are not allow to make DD or SO from them.
And people who are the poorest would have passbook accounts rather than basic current accounts as they would not be able get credit scored..

In this I am glad to say you are wrong - being poor does not stop you being credit scored.. though it may result in a poor credit rating. (which could be what you meant)
However, basic bank accounts are designed for individuals with poor credit ratings and should mean that everyone is able to get a basic bank account.

Even if she loses she may get the information of what the true cost is.
I would like to know.0
