Can I just ask while I'm here.
Apart from our booking, I booked for my Aunty and Uncle to go, same dates, same flights but booked with alpharooms.
Aunty received their flight tickets yesterday, their outward ticket for Futura.
Any ideas what they should do now please? (I feel awful for booking it for them!)

Don't worry Futura passengers, although worrying, your situation (thankfully) isn't comparable to the XL situation. The trouble with XL is that the whole lot have gone, the airline, the tour operators, everything, so holidays won't happen.
The difference with Futura is that they are an independent charter airline who operate flights for a variety of tour operators. They have gone bust, but the tour operators (Thomas Cook/Thomson/First Choice etc etc) are still going concerns. All they will do is find someone else to operate the flight. You need to speak to the tour operator.
If they say they don't know, then that may be the case. They may be covering the flights at the moment on a week to week basis before finding something long term, so may not know specifics yet. I know that Globespan have picked up a few of the Futura charters. The sad thing is that XL had as well, obviously back to square one now. But you should still get your holiday, your tour operator is still a going concern and should be making arrangements to honour their contract.0 -

Whilst your optimism is refreshing, it's not guaranteed that tour operators will be able to, or choose to, replace Futura charter flights, particularly for people flying very soon.
It is quite possible that all people will end up with is a refund and some derisory compensation for cancellation.0 -

Indeed that may be true, however so far, I don't think anyone has lost a holiday due to Futura going under, flights have been covered by many airlines. (Actually, not strictly true, Seguro customers have lost holidays, but thats because Seguro went under as well, but they blame their failure on Futura). But with the big tour operators involved, they tend to have the resources to sort something out due to their size. Granted they can't always do so, but Futura only operate a handful of flights for the big tour ops, so replacing them isn't an epic task.0 -
Just had a phone call from my Uncle.
Alpharooms called him earlier and him and my Aunty are now on a Monarch flight leaving at 9.25, as opposed to the Futura flight which was due to leave at 2pm, so they are happy!
I'll be on the phone first thing tomorrow to first choice to see if our flight (same flight as aunty and uncle) has been changed, fingers crossed!!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
