To flush or not to flush ?

I now have a water meter and flush every third time for a pee and every time for a poo.
I lived on a farm in the 80s where there was an outside WC which had a twin seat, with what appeared to be a dried up stream running under it. Doing the corssword must have been easier in those days with someone to help out with the answers.
I grew up in the 60's in a family of 9 and sharing bath water was compulsory on a Sunday evening
PS this thread makes me smile0 -
Don't flush the loo except for a number two.
Keep a plastic bowl in the sink. After you have washed your hands throw the water down the loo, it will help to prevent the toilet from scaling up.
If you want to go green and save pounds, see if you can connect your toilet to a water butt. Our downstairs toilet is connected to the waterbutt. If that runs dry we can turn two levers and fill the loo using the mains.0 -

I do realise how water poor the world is I lived in Israel for two years, and drank de-salinated water, however my small part of the world - West Yorks, isnt short of water in any way shape or form,.0 -

I also live in West Yorkshire and it's scary at times when you look in the reservoirs see how low they are. Just because it rains a lot (and it does I know) doesn't mean that the water ends up in the reservoir where it needs to be. More and more housing being built means that the rain-water isn't sinking into the ground like it used to.
It's in everyone's interest to save water as much as possible, regardless of where we live - water is a finite commodity.
I'm sorry, I didn't intend to snap in my original reply - you asked and I replied in haste because your post about the way you [strike]waste[/strike] use water really shocked me.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I'm now getting worried about the number of you who have to get up in the night for a pee. :think:0

Its worring me too! Although I am pregnant, so it is probably just a matter of a few weeks before I will be joining the club
We let the number ones build up but would always flush for a number two. Our monthly water bill for a house of two is £10 so it is certainly saving more than a penny :rotfl:0 -
If I do have to get up in the night, I don't flush either (can't ever remember getting up for anything other than a pee!). Bathroom is ensuite so don't want to wake up my wife with the noise of the flush.0

There are an awful light of night-time pee-ers on here and unless they're either pregnant, getting on a bit, been out on the beer the night before or nervous as they're sleeping somewhere strange (always affects me due to nerves) then surely there could be on or two with possible problems (!!!) in which case they should be checking themselves out for their own sakes as well as their OH's.
Let's hope some might think again about it and act, if needs be.
