To flush or not to flush ?

we dont flush at night....initially did this as we were worried about waking the children though... but as we have become lately more ethically minded/green we are doing little things like this all of the time to reduce waste0

there's a Mitchell and Webb sketch where they are trying to eliminate awkward social situations by setting various rules. One is when you are staying at someone's house and you don't know whether you should flush at night in case you wake them... their solution is that you shouldn't flush if it is a wee, but if it was a no. 2, flush, but then to explain yourself shout "IT WAS A POO, IT WAS A POO!!"0

My husband won't flush in the middle of the night if its just a wee.
He says its noisy & a waste of water.
It drives me mad!!!!!!
I try & shame him into it, but he still keeps doing it.
If he did it during the day I would go totally insane.
I think its disgusting.
We don't flush unless someone has a poo, or unless guests are here of course.
Shame him into what? Into wasting clean water flushing away his virtually sterile bodily water waste, which is already safely in clean water and a ceramic bowl
I too used to have a chamberpot under the bed when I used to stay at my grandparents and a toilet down the end of the garden, I think they were retired when they first got an indoor loo
ps, I tend to use most of mine in the garden if I can help it (unless I am a bit poorly, then its not worth the risk), its all nutrients into the ground and the compost bin.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Toilet bowls DO stain.
The urea in urine is usually slightly acid when excreted, with a pH of around 6, when left (in the toilet bowl, for example) it decays and actually becomes alkaline, to a pH of 9 or more.
Both acids and alkaline will attack the ceramic or enamel in a toilet bowl - and will stain it over time, as well as spoiling the surface.0 -

If just pee we don't but, if poo we do.
If at someone elses house I'll flush regardless ... unless they say otherwise
Make sure you put loo roll down the bowl if you poo in case of plopping and potential splashback :rotfl:Proudly Banking & Saving With:

No flush at night and mostly no flush during the day (if no poo of course), but my kids will flush and flush and flush, no getting sense into teenage heads! We have recently opted for a water meter and I really get mad at seeing my money flushed down the loo!
