Me too Joe, but there was only a bath then if I was very, very lucky (living in shared accommodation with my mum where there was only a bath in the kitchen - underneath the table!), most of the time it was stripped-washes which I hated, specially in winter when you became so cold during them. I'd far sooner have had times as they were then for most things, but not for showers/baths which are luxurious now. I was lucky, I lived in one of the "new" prefabs, built in the 50's. They had an indoor bathroom and toilet. We also had an outside loo, which was used to store the boiler.
There were only four streets of prefabs in our village and most of my mates lived in pre-war houses. Until1972, when the revitalisations started, all those houses didn't have a bathroom. Just an outside loo and a tin bath, which was usually found hanging on the wall outside the back door.
I was very lucky in those days.
I remember strip washes too, but give me a bath, a radiator and hot towels any day!0 -
I couldn't agree more Joe - but at least we have something to compare modern days ablutions with.....and know just how lucky we now are! ....and my gran used to say "oh for the good old days", maybe for some things but not how she lived then, that's for sure!

Well we don't in the night-too noisy-even on the "quiet" one. When we have any friends over we simply tell them that if they need in wee in the night then dont worry about pulling the flush as we don't do it. They have always seemed to agree that they don't either. If I'm at somebody elses house and they happen to have a downstairs loo, I use that in the night and pull th e flush-as I do at home, should I "need" to.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

Usually 1s stay until the morning 2s don't, actually with a little boy who hates the noise of a loo flushing there are many times I go in and it's still 'there'. We're not on a water meter but see no reason in being wasteful. Oh yes the water saving flusher plus the bottle in the cistern means when we do it's using much less. One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
My brother-in-laws a plumber and said due to low water flushes on toilets now the sewers are getting constantly blocked as there isn't enough water flow.
Always a down side.0 -
I suppose that was inevitable as we're not putting enough down to drown it/em any longer! Food for thought or something similar!
