3 (Three) Mobile Broadband USB Review - UK

I was also sold the 3 contract through the Carphone Warehouse (Balham - London Store). It was the sales team there that made the claims that the 3 service would work perfectly in Hove.
As far as I see it the 3 should review how there service is sold and represented by 3rd parties.
We're still having no luck will getting the 3 contract cancelled.
Also an update on coverage. I tried to use the 3 key on a commute from Brighton to London. In a 1 hour jouney I would say that I had a connection for no more than 10 minutes. Just a warnign for anybody conidering taking out this service on this popular commuting route.0 -
Whatever you do, don't cancel the direct debit!! You'll end up getting balif letters and a bad credit rating!!
I would send off letters to managing directors, as well as the store you bought it (recorded delivery), and tell them if you don't have a satisfactory within 10 working days (or specify a date), then you'll be contacting trading standards and watchdog!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Slightly off topic, but would anyone happen to have the code that is required to order Three's mobile broadband on the student (£50 off) offer they have on their front page at the moment? They're touring a number of universities, you have to visit them to get the code, but they aren't coming to mine unfortunately!
Thanks
You don't need it if you place the order over the phone.0 -
thanks pinkshoes. I think you're probably right. I don't want this situation with three.co.uk to get any worse than it already is and get a bad credit rating!
Has anybody else had a bad experience with their three (3) mobile internet broadband? If you have please let me know. Perhaps if enough of us can get together we'll be able to change their selling policy.
Get in touch and spread the word about the poor quality of 3s mobile internet coverage in comparison to what they claim!
p.s. cristinam87 - maybe they have an issue with people with the name cristina!0 -

£500 is ridiculous! Ask them if you can buy the modem outright - it only costs £99 on PAYG - and end the service contract. You could then sell the modem or unlock it to use with another provider.0 -
Hey, thanks for everyone for trying to help us poor souls who has signed up to 3 through the Carphone Warehouse. Cristinakaren, I really hope they don't have anything against our names
! point3, I am happy by your response, I will try and sort that out, thank you! If I do get around to use it with another provider, does anyone know a GOOD provider that doesn't cost a lot of money? Yeah, I know it's like asking to find a needle in a haystack but there must be ONE provider which does a good job... right?

I think buying the modem and using PAYG might be a better idea, then if the service deteriorates after a month or two you can stop using it and sell the modem.0

I would not recommend three mobile broadband - it was the cheapest available when I signed up but if I was choosing again I would choose Vodafone. I have found it slow, unreliable and it takes way too long to speak to a representative (5-15 minutes usually).
If you are thinking about getting mobile broadband bear in mind at the moment it is not a good replacement for adsl or home broadband - it is a lot slower.
I was told by the sales representative that coverage was good at my home in Bristol and the place I stay in central London.
During the 3 day cooling off period:
Meets expectations - speeds of about 512kbps download/60kbps upload in the London
After the 3 day cooling off period:
I have had to ring the technical services 2 days in a row to be able to connect to the internet, once connected it has frequently disconnected and I've had to manually reconnect. Technical services said problems were due to congestion.
When I travelled to Bristol by train - I couldn't connect at all.
When I got home to Bristol I got speeds of 56kbps - dial up speed not broadband speed.
I have phoned three about whether I can cancel my contract since I do not get mobile broadband as promised - the answer is no. I have been swindled out of £270 (18 mths x £15). Please be aware.0 -
Well, I could not get the modem to work with either of my computers so I returned the modem within 3 days and got them to refund my money and cancel my contract. They did not cancel my contract properly though and I keep getting bills (which I am paying to avoid damaging my credit rating). I have written evidence of the return and have tried sorting this out by e-mail, telephone and going back to the original 3 store, none of which has worked. I have sent them a letter by recorded delivery with 28 days to reply. That time period is almost up and I have not received a response yet. If they do not answer then they will get one more letter before I take them to court (small claims court) to recover my money.0
