I thought i would share my experiences when reclaiming old midland bank accounts for me and my husband.

The process was very simple (initially) and i followed the information on the moneysavingexpert website- excellent work Martin!

I then added all my details to mylostaccount.org.uk where it assigned me a case number.

Around a week late i received a letter from hsbc, stating that we did indeed have an unclaimed asset of £346.28 (though i did think this was a bit low, we simply couldn't remember the last balance as it hadn't been used since the mid 90's.

I have now received this cheque and am simply delighted with how easy this process was and urge anyone who even thinks they may have have an old account to get it checked.
