Hiya was talking to my very old grandma last night about this forum os!
She was having a good ol chuckle at some of your threads!
She told me you can make treacle puddings in the microwave with dumpling mix?????? has she lost the plot!!
She said get microwavable bowl 1 packet farmhouse dumpling mix instead of adding water add 1 egg a spoonfull of sugar and a dash of milk mix it up !!
Put two tablespoons of jam into bottom of bowl and then add dumpling mix on top of jam and bung in microwave for two mins at a time and keep checking to see when you put knife if centre if it comes out clean its cooked but if it comes out sticky in needs another 2 mins!!
I carnt belive how easy it sounds to make and there absolutely lovely when she makes them we shall see as im having my first baking day tomorow so i will let you all know how i get on but i refuse to post me pics as it is my first attempt hehehe:beer:
forgot to say need cling film on top only realised when reading another thread from squeaky lol no wonder my baking never turns out i always miss out the most important parts lmao

Dumpling mix is just suet isn't it? And sponge pudding or steam pudding is usually called suet pudding. Its usually steamed for a few hours but a microwave is a cheap and cheerful way to do it.
We made this in home economics when I was at school - this makes me sound old but it was only 12 years ago!
Was very nice too!

Try using the advanced search and on the left hand side there is an option to search thread by title which makes it easier to find the relevant threads to post on.0 -

Either that or spend hours every day writing indexes - that way you Know it's there.... somewhere...
There's an index or collection that covers all the main areas of OS - but they're not completely up to date - the board is far too busy. So finding some things is easy - the rest is trying different key words in the search. Sometimes the simple search is fine, for others the advanced is better.
The REAL pain is the zillions of threads that don't have the "subject" in their title - such as "help please" or "how do I...?" There some excellent threads topped up with good info that are really hard to find again - even when you know you've seen one all about the whateveritis.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I'd just like to say, I am so ridiculously thrilled you posted this. :j
I was thinking of a microwave pud and how nice it would be on sunday night, as a friend's mum used to rustle this sort of thing up after school when I was so much younger, but I'm scared of my microwave and it is little used (hot choc, literally!). As a newbie to this site, it's all a little overwhelming, and although I know if I post there is help available, it wouldn't have occured to me to search for something within the forums - I'm not at all techno-literate. And this is the first forum I've wanted to try and use.
So for me (and I can't believe I'm the only one), it's opened up my eyes to the possibility of searching for other recipe ideas I'd like (though I probably won't personally find them! :rotfl:).
So huge thanks. :T
