I emailed royal mail and asked if you can exchange postage stamps for cash and got this email back:.

    Dear Madam

Thank you for you email regarding exchanging postage stamps for cash.

You can exchange postage stamps for cash but we take 5% of the total cost.

If you have any other queries or problems in the future don't hesitate to
    contact us again.

How do you go about it though? I'm prepared for some very blank faced responses at the local P.O.

A lot of postings have gone up more than 6%, e.g second class has gone up from 24p to 27p which is a 12.5% increase. :(:(:(:(:(

If you board the wrong train, it is no use running along the corridor in the other direction.

Under 'Manage My Smarts' there is a 'List SMART's currently in my stock' - you only need to send your SMARTs back if it tells you to return them there (updated weekly)

Otherwise, you will be asked to add your SMARTs to some of the items you are asked to post.

If you need to return SMARTs and don't have a SMART envelope you can always request some by making a 'Stationery requests' though every posting pack I get seems to contain some anyway!
