8 year old boy and swimming changing facilities

I don't think boys of 8 should be changing in an open womens changing room.
TBH I don't think boys older than toddlers should.
But I can see where mothers of boys are coming from here too.
Perhaps ALL pools should be make have a few family rooms, so people with kids of 5 to 11 (ish) can use them.
  so boys of what, age 3/4 + should go and change on their own in the male changing rooms ?!!!0 -

and if they don't ?!!!
please don't shout
and you think I am rude
sheesh0 -

I had to shout, you could quote it but not read it.
I've seen people select & edit the quote to suit the message, but to quote it & ignore it, thats just dumb.
If they don't you don't just leave it.
Parents should complain & refuse to use the pools until they provide proper changing facilities.0 -
And then the child / family misses out on swimming in the meantime ?
Life isn't always so clear cut as that! If only..
I am sure most Mums ( are you one?) would rather take their son into the female changing rooms, than not take them swimming at all0 -
OK, there are lots of valid points on all sides, but has anybody thought of the other aspects of safety here ? Not all 8 year olds can swim yet, so surely any parent would be reluctant to leave their young child.unsupervised at the pool side, whilst they get themselves and other children ready !
Surely 10 or 11 would be a more realistic age
Good points
and what about those children that have disabilities / difficulties but look "fine" outwardly
My son has Dyspraxia and finds some aspects of changing difficult
there is no way at the age of 8, he could have / would have coped with being in the male changing rooms on his own0 -

Years ago they didn't provide disabled access to things, but people complained & demanded, so now they do.
Years ago women earned less than men for the same job, but people complained & demanded, so now we have equal pay.
Years ago it was acceptable to discriminate against people on the grounds of their colour, race or religion, but but people complained & demanded, so now we have race relation laws.
If you just put up & shut up NOTHING changes, you gotta speak up.
YES, I AM A MUM.
This post is on behalf of women who feel uncomfortable changing in front of 8 year old boys (I would).
AND 8 year old boys, who must get very embarrassed being in their with naked ladies.0 -

If you had read my first post PROPERLY you would realise no way was I saying that a mother should no worry about sending her 8 year old into a male changing room BUT that councils should be made to provide proper facilities for families.
But you twisted it a bit like I was some kind of child hater.
Then your "most Mums ( are you one?)" snip.
No I'm not against kids
Yes I am a mum.
The only thing I have a real gripe with is councils who don't provide proper changing facilities.
No go & have a go at someone else, because I'm not letting you make me look like an ogre.0 -
