Well my chair came with a bag of screws missing.

    Such fun.

    From viking web site:

Please note: The screws for this chair are not in a separate bag, as the instructions may suggest. They're already inserted into the screw holes.

Seems I have been a bit of an idiot. I thought those screws in the chair were place holders for the screws.

    Damn.

Can anybody tell me the couriers names or even better their telephone number? I've left the card at home and need to rearrange delivery.
    Cheers

There is also a leather faced typist's chair for £24.99 inc VAT but it does have a plastic base by the looks of it. Ref VC7-GRANADA1

These chairs are great and are really durable. My kids have whirled about on mine, kicked it over, jumped on it and it's still in great condition. :D

I bought one of the leather chairs from Viking the last time they were going cheap. For the price, they're pretty good, and look pretty smart as an 'Executive chair' in a home office.

However, they are specifically designed only for casual use. Even in Viking's own brochure, they describe such chairs as "...designed for those people who undertake a variety of tasks with limited time spent at the workstation'.

The reason is that they have minimal adjustments - only height, and possibly deat angle. The back cannot be moved independent of the seat, so you cannot change the back height, or move it forward or back - there is no tilt tension, back depth adjustment, floating back, adjustable arms etc. etc...

These are essential to obtain a comfortable position for long term work.

I happily used the leather chair happily for many months, but I found that after a short session I would get uncomfortable. Sometimes I wanted to lean forward at the desk, but then there is no back support (because the back-rest does not move and is set quite far back)

Personally, I've just bought a new one (only about £45 from Staples) which Viking would recommend for 'moderate' use. (I'd have preferred one for 'Intensive Use' but then you get into prices of £100+). It is much more adjustable, and in particular the back rest tilts forward and backwards to support me, as I move in forward and backward against my desk.

So.....when considering office chairs, the price DOES reflect the capability of the chair.

Indeed I've looked at all the 'executive' leather chairs and they are all described as 'for casual use'. They look great, but they have minimal flexibility.

    Cheers,
    Don
