How do I get a good deal from O2
Hi, my girlfriend is on O2 - she has a contract for £25 a month which gets her 200 xnet mins and 50 texts. She is also due for an upgrade. I know she can get a better deal online via a cashback deal but she isn't too keen on that.
I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of deal O2 would offer her to stay with the them eg line rental reduction, more mins etc
Or if there are any particluar good deals around at the moment.
She is quite keen on the new samsung e530.
Cheers

just find a online package she likes, ring up o2, tell them she wants to cancel because she has been offereerd a better package, they normaly ask what it is and they shoul;d match it ( without having to go through the cashback procedure) or will offer her an offer0

Go through the Retentions Dept, they usually match the equiv of the 3 tariff which gives 500 X Network Mins for £25 per month if she needs more mins!!0

i recently renewed my contract with o2
got 200 xnet mins and 500 txts for £20 p/m and a free D500 phone0 -
I renewed my contract with O2 online yesterday. When speaking to Customer services, I asked for my PAC code and was transferred to the Retentions department. I was asked why I was leaving and said that I'd found a better deal through Three for 500 anytime Xnet minutes with 100 text for £15 per month. When I said I hadn't actually signed up for the deal, the guy said he could match it on a 12 month contract. I asked for a new phone too as that is what Three are offering. I asked for a SE K750 which he offered for £30.
I have heard others haggle more and have got the phone free with a few more texts thrown in. The deal I got seems to be a standard deal called Discount 500. Make sure that you don't ask for an upgrade as you will struggle to get as good a deal if you get through to the Upgrade department compared with Retentions.
Here is a recent thread where you can read this in more detail.Nice to save.0 -
Hi Rodders,
I've just made a quick call to O2 Online Retentions and theh guys have offered me the Discount 500 package but the prices are all different.
He has offered me:
500 X Network Mins
400 Text Messages
£20.00 per month
I told him i'm happy with my current handset and he said there would be no 12 month contract then.0 -
I spoke to the retentions dept last month and after a fair amount of haggling was offered.......
750 anytime/any network mins
100 texts
New 6230i + Bluetooth Headset free
12 month contract
All for £17.50 per month
Aparently the tariff is called the 'Discount 750' and it's normally £35 but they agreed to do it for half price for the full 12 months of the contract
Prior to that I'd been on the leisure time plus tariff costing £20 per month
My average spend was only £20 - £30 per month so I was well chuffed to get such a good deal.
I think o2 are on a real drive to keep existing customers at the moment so it could be the perfect time to negotiate a new deal.0 -

Hi, that is the phone i've just ordered from 02. £19 a month contract with 02 50 online. You get 50 mins calls and 500 free texts a month0 -
Hi Folks,
I think this has been discussed in a few posts but just to let you know O2 Retentions are pulling all stops to keep customers by matching just about anything you can find.
The two new tariffs they have on offer are called Discount 500 and Discount 750.
500 Anytime X Network Mins or 750 Anytime X Network Mins and 400 Texts as well all for £15.00 or £17.500
