Good morning everyone. Its very cold here if the cat could actually sit on the gas fire he would:D I was just talking to someone the other day about how we have very little snow. I remember when I was little how much snow we used to have. I remember walking to work many years ago and a fire engine stuck in the drive cos the snow was so deep. Last time I saw a lot of snow was when I went to Lapland a few years ago.

Anyway not much flying today just want to iron my bedding and my uniform for tomorrow. Does getting rid of some of the sites in favourites count pigpen lol. Actually my computer could do with a tidy in My Documents.

Might try to get the bookcase sorted later and some stuff away to the charity shop. Spare room could do with tackling but leaving that till its warmer as its colder than the fridge in there.

  • Hi all,

I need your help Flyladies. I am home all day with the 2 toddlers (3 & 1) and you would THINK that I would have plenty of time to keep on top of things, but I am still struggling  . I seem to be dashing from room to room putting away and slightly cleaning but everywhere still looks messy, I never seem to have time to play with the kiddies cause I am trying to keep on top of things all the time :o .

I think I need some focus, maybe with doing the flylady routine at last each room would have a thorough clean once a week and then that just leaves me the putting away in each room every day.

I have also started cooking from scratch / baking my own bread & cakes which take up a good hour or so every morning. Everything takes longer when you have a 3 year old helping and a one year old attached to your ankles.

I also have three jobs, cleaning the village hall 1hr on a Wednesday, Outwork for a local printers (folding paper etc) which takes up two evenings per week, and two nights per week (7-12) working at Sainsburys. This is all part of our getting debt-free asap plan, which is great, but also cuts down on my time for cleaning etc, so I need to get organised.

How do you other mothers with young children get on with the Flylady routines??

Looking forward to getting to know you all and I will be starting the routines from Monday. Wish me luck :D

S-Steph.. 1 .. make time to play with the children first.. once you have played with them and got them settled they will (in theory) be happier to play without clinging to your ankles.. leaving you a little more time to fly unhindered. 2.. do an hour once they are both in bed on the nights you are home.. un an hour you can get the important rooms (living areas and kitchen and bathrooms) reasonable.. even I can do that and I am lazy and live in a hovelesque mansion! 3 don't stress about it.. you achieve so much more if you aren't stressing about it.. if it doesn't get done.. it'll still be there tomorrow.. and once something is on the floor there isn't really anywhere else it can go!! Enjoy the littlies.. so long as they have a safe room to play in they'll survive.. the house doesn't have to be pristine.

ETA. get them to join in.. make a game of picking things up.. give them each a baby wipe and ask them to help.. in to time they'll be wiping skirtings and tables and doors and they love it!!! I've had mine in the kitchen wiping the floors with a damp microfibre cloth before.. and all the kitchen units..

Peace - all gone with DH to DS2 footie - thermals, hats, gloves, handwarmers and they are gone!!!!!!!!

Right shower for me and then I want to get as much off my list as possible so that this afternoon I have time to cook, here DS3 read, get the stuff ready for school and sort some toys with DS3.

SS1 accept right now it never will all get done. One of my favourite quotes:

'cleaning the house whilst kids are still growing is like shovelling snow whilst it's still snowing'.

There feel better now don't you! I have a quote for every occassion, be warned
The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair
  • Thanks so much everyone, if am abit of a control freak so I do get stressed when things are in a mess and I am trying to keep the house tidy like I used to 3 years ago when I did'nt have any kiddies :-/

Love the quotes, they made me feel loads better. Will see how this week goes and will report back.

How do you do it guys, do you leave the Flylady thread open on your computer so you can see what you need to do or do you print it off.

Hope your having a great Sunday xxx

-4'C it was here last night.. !

    Morning,

my other half came in moaning this mornig that it was -5 last night and not what you need when you're trying to get 5 teenagers out of a car upside down in a ditch in the fens  . Luckily noone seriously hurt, times like that I'm glad I gave it up.

Have S/S kitchen this morning and reloaded WM and TD twice so now going for a shower then shopping now I know exactly what I've got in my cupboards.

    See ya all later

PS Welcome Stressed steph - Hope you enjoy being with us and stop stressing - it really doesnt matter if your little ones are clothed fed watered and happy :D

PPS - S/Steph I usually print if off, and the HHC (half hour challenges are brilliant for seeing how much you can get done especially when you finish with a cuppa and catch up on here.
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!
  • In one hour, me and DH have swept/tidied/hoovered all of downstairs and the stairs, and i have managed to wash a load of baby bibs and get all the bedding in the WM, and empty the stinky bathroom bin into the outside wheelie bin.

Now i have sat DS and DH in front of a Barney DVD so i can mark my books in peace. Half a set done and i am just having a break. ;)

You wouldn't believe how mucky the floors were to say i only mopped them on friday, but i suppose that is what happens when you have 2 cats and a DH and a DS dropping things everywhere.

At least it looks like we have made some progress this week.
